  • I don't think anyone thinks/said they thought they were 6 years old? I did say the achievements listed stopped at 6yrs old. Looking at their youtube my guess was 10/12years old. I still think its a child (a girl, as they said their name was Iris on the Iris thread) and I am happy to be wrong too.

If you're still reading, Iris, hello and good luck with your gardening and your Youtubing.

(I don't think this thread and its replies would encourage anyone to start posting. The opposite, in fact.)
  • @philippasmith2 I think he/she saw the profile as a way to openly tell everyone about themselves and how they felt about the world. A person that lives in fear of plants dieing is sadly what comes across to me. Possibly not a gardener but the love of plants is obvious. A gardener of the near future I hope.
Young people have a huge knowledge of the environment and the World's Flora and Fauna that is at risk. The frog mentioned is seen as stable but numbers could be affected by urban development it would seem.

It is my generation and those who gardened before me who have used chemicals to kill weeds and treat disease in plants. I need to take my share of what I did wrongly as a young gardener and share what I know now.
I think it probably depends how each of us defines "a young person" - toddler, pre teen, teen or 20/30's  ?  - their knowledge of environmental issues may well be greater than previous generations but if you consider the increased use of power due to the addiction to SM, the apparent overuse of various disinfectants on every possible surface, the constant worry about toxic plants, "dirt" etc., I don't think, on the whole, they are making use of their knowledge any more wisely than anyone else  Certainly IME, some late teens/20's are often unaware that sitting in their vehicles with the engine running whilst busy on their mobile phones is not a good idea. Nor is the amount of litter casually dropped for someone else to take care of. Fairly basic one would think ?
Yes, our generation is certainly at fault and also guilty of much of the above and there's a lot of generalisation  too in my comments.
I guess this particular discussion on here is purely academic anyway as the age of the OP is not known and neither are their particular circumstances.
