Mostly under £50. I use a £5 note every week for my Yoga class,  and sometimes cash for the window cleaner though we can pay him online now.  I  will not use my phone to pay for things I don't think it's secure enough yet.  My BIL worked in  IT all his life he won't even bank on line says it's still not secure.

My phone isn’t smart enough to do anything but calls and texts, but I wouldn’t have anything banking related on it anyway. I don’t even do any banking or online shopping using a credit card on my iPad except in an emergency, we use the iMac at home which has the most updated security.
My credit card has lost its contactless function, I think since I accidentally left it in my bag next to my phone. I don’t mind having to enter my pin every time, means I’m less likely to forget it, and hopefully, if it was stolen, it might slow down an illicit spending spree. I need to order a new card, but that means I’ll be without one until the replacement arrives, and that is going to be rather inconvenient.

....but it's been there for (literally) months - last summer probably.

Re Sweden - Just back from there. Got some cash because we knew we were going to a campsite where they only accepted cash. Absolutely everything else was card. Lots of shops don't accept cash.

Long story short - one day we spent ages in a check out queue at the Co-op. Reason - the card system was down, cash payments only, no card payments at all. Only found out when we got to the till. Bill came to 540 kroner. Offered 2 x 500 SEK notes and the cashier just reduced the bill to 500 SEK.🙂

Don't know why they couldn't tell people about the problem before they joined the queue and offloaded all their shopping onto the belt - lots of people had no cash to pay - but we received apologetic Kit Kat type chocolate bars as compensation 😎

Depends what I need, but I always, always pay by cash.

Over £50. I usually top up by getting cashback at the supermarket. It covers OH's 'pocket money' for snooker etc. I prefer to use cash at the weekly market and charity shops. Chuck in a couple of fetes.

I like to use cash as much as possible as I don’t like the idea of all my purchases being tracked by the bank, I am not doing anything sinister of course but it’s annoying to think they have so much information about me. That said I shop online a lot too.
I always pay my hairdresser cash and always leave a cash tip in a restaurant. I have mobile banking now as during covid I lost track of my “frivol “ money as I was using my card a lot. I went overdrawn for the first time ever because of all the little bits I was spending.
I also like cash so I can give my grandchildren pocket money. It’s more satisfying somehow .

All my banking is done on my phone. Haven't had to go to a bank in years. I worked in IT for 20 years and its as secure as any other form of payment and a lot more convenient than trying to get to a bank. On the rare occasion I'm sent a check I scan that in on my phone and its paid directly into my account. What's not to like about phone banking.

I keep £10 in my phone case slip for those rare moments I'm forced to pay cash.

I have my credit card on my phone but, I'm still forced to take my physical credit card with me for those occasions when the credit/debit machine swipe does not work and asks you to put your card in the machine and enter your pin but, I suspect the need for a pin will disappear in the not to distant future.

I went to make a payment with my credit card at the end of last week, and found I'd forgotten the PIN.
    Aaarrgghhh!!!
I've only ever used it online or over the phone, and I've never been asked for the PIN before. I put in what I thought was correct. Whoops!!
Thankfully my wife was on hand to use HER card, and I was able to transfer funds online to cover her costs, when I returned home.
Now I really need to do something about that credit card!!
