Mail Order - companies to use, companies to avoid

  • I do think it is a risk buying a Hellebore unless it is in flower. Unless the nursery has already had one season to check it out. This will reflect in it's price too.
On line nurseries often ship different plants in 9cm pots to save on p and p. Many of these plants are not ready to go in the garden and need to be grown on.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

This is the first time I have seen an online Nursery post on here. Always good business sense to see what gardeners around the country are thinking.
I imagine companies run automatic searches to find mentions of their name ... and then they can respond to criticism.

    Definitely no robots here  :)

We always try our best to keep our prices down, it can be expensive to post individual plants, that's why we can offer great discounts on multiple plants. We hope to have some new systems in place soon to more easily track orders and update customer subscriber preferences.

Please do keep in touch with feedback, we're always keen to see how we can help improve things. Keeping customers is just as important for us.

    Thanks!

  • They may respond but goodness their pricing is ridiculous for tiny plants...used them once for some hellebores most were the wrong variety 🤣 never again.
    Hi Amancalledgeorge,

It's a shame to hear of your Hellebore experience, was this is a recent order? We do have a no quibble guarantee on our plants - if you wish to contact us about this at [email protected] we can help you more with this order.

    Kind regards, Evie

If you're ever in doubt, drop a message through our Facebook or Instagram, our content creator is often visiting the greenhouse if you'd like reassurance on plants you may be interested in. She might have time to take the odd photo  :)

I wasn't suggesting you personally were a robot rather than a human. 😁

I've just had really good service from englishsweetpeas.co.uk.

I'd not heard of them before but ordered a few packs of seeds yesterday at 12.30pm, arrived today at 1pm. They had emailed to say they'd been shipped about an hour after I ordered, so really quite prompt.

Seeds are nice and fresh, they say there's a minimum of 10 per pack but I had 12 in all of them except one that had 13. So a few freebies if they all germinate. Very pleased 😀
