I would advise extreme caution about trying to list the 'companies to avoid'.  Without solid evidence to back up naming and shaming it's possible the site could be sued.
I do not believe stating factual experiences is a problem. People leave reviews about their experiences all the time, trust pilot make a living from it and people often take to a companies twitter page in a bid to resolve issues, Amazon let you filter by reviews. A lot of the better companies will often reply to a negative review to explain their side or try to make amends. Ranting and raving about an issue is different.

@BenCotto Totally agree with you about the botanic nursery. We did visit them (amazing place) and bought 3 foxglove species. Some weeks later one was in trouble. Contacting them via email with a photo asking for advice and without hesitation they sent a replacement.
  • I've had good experiences with these nurseries (mostly perennials, a few shrubs):
Paddock Plants (peat-free, recommended by another poster on this forum), Ashwood Nurseries - roses and shrubs, Macplants and Longacres Garden Centre.

I tried J Parkers once and, as someone else above mentioned, the shrubs were very small but they replaced the one that didn't survive the journey. The perennials were fine.

@Pete.8 I never knew there were plants for sale at Barleylands. I am not too far away but usually drive straight past on the way to Basildon, so thanks for posting that.
I have had some great salvias from Sarah Raven, really healthy and growing well now planted out, black and blue, amante and amistad. Also recommend Farmer Gracy too.

I've had good plants from Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants and Taylors Clematis.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Trevor white for roses, I've had well over a dozen and all have been excellent. Buckingham nurseries for bare root hedges and trees. Hayloft for plugs, will need growing on.
  • I want to buy a couple of viburnum and carnt find them in local garden centres but google tells me Thompson & Morgan have them in stock are they  reliable or any good suppliers for shrubs.

Personally, I would avoid t&m. Not had great experiences with them in the past.

Personally, I would go with Burncoose  @paulbaxendale4813wtYe2ly
    A solidly reliable company.
