probably some others I've forgot . I am buying some plants off plant providers nurseries at the moment I'll report back. I had some decent primula canedelabra off Parkers this year as well.
I've fell out with secret garden club don't use them anymore - wrong plants sent wouldn't reply to email .
I'd add Beth Chatto to the list and Crûg Farm. Both fantastic.
Crûg Farmhas a pretty basic, old style website, but an unparalleled listing of the unusual and exotic. I think because of the formatting, the plants tend not to come up on browser searches, but you can search their catalogue manually using their own search function. Deeply knowledgable and helpful owners who have introduced many new plants to the UK. Plant explorers.
I have just had my second delivery from Gardening Express, bought shrubs in their sale which would have cost 4 times as much on other sites. Well packaged, quick delivery I'm not planting them straight away,as we are in a heatwave and hosepipe ban, they will be planted in autumn. I got a set of patio fruit trees from them,£9.97 for the whole set, meant to be 5,there's actually 6,have added a picture of the Stella Cherry. They come with a 5 year guarantee. You Garden I have had problems with, and T &M. Have bought a lot of plants, Rhododendrons, citrus, hostas, clematis from Aldi and Lidl, recently bought 3 very nice hydrangeas, from Lidl, pink, blue and white. A few years ago I bought a "white" named Rhododendron from Aldi, planted it in a particular spot... when it flowered it was cerise pink. Rang the customer service dept. They refunded the money, one day I was actually gardening, this huge box is delivered,a Rhododendron about a MTR wide ,4 ft tall,a box of chocolates and an apology letter. I live quite near Hardy's.
Has anyone bought fruit trees from Chris Bowers & Sons? I was thinking of buying a few trees from them but there are very mixed (and extreme) reviews online. Thank you.
Darcy & Everest perennials and alpines are good, well-grown and well packed. I've found plugs from South Eastern Horticultural are good quality. Wouldn't buy anything other than seeds from T & M, or bulbs from J Parker, having had negative experiences with both (plants small, unhealthy or turn out to be wrong variety).
To avoid: Hayloft.co.uk Why? Non stop irrelevant marketing, misleading information about plants on sale. Poor or nonexistent tracking and goods not as advertised. Plus information that disappears from the website, so you cannot always find what you ordered because it is 'time-specific') I mean days and weeks and boo! ...it has vanished from the website.
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
Lets hope Hayloft read your comments they would be a company that I would recommend. Why don't they realise that constant pressure after a sale puts people off and makes them cross. I guess if they get one repeat customer every so many they don't care. However some customers may not return at all if after service is poor.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
