Come off it @Hostafan1 do I really need to explain that.

Here you go then, because your friends on this forum will never take you to task over some of the things you say.

But, if I had suggested the poisoning of cats they would have jumped all over me in a heartbeat.

I can hear the closing of ranks.

I have few friends on this forum, far more enemies.
As you pointed out, nobody has flagged it.

And this is why you shouldn't mention the C word on here.

Hostafan, that’s unnecessarily provocative and destined to make this conversation acrimonious.
For many people it is a very real issue. I see no reason why grown adults can not discuss what does, and does not , constitute a "pest"
I have no issue with you calling cats pests. I do take issue with you advocating illegal actions.

    When did I advocate that?

Perhaps it is time we start to tell owners of cats we can identify as being "responsible" for, to please keep their pets out of our gardens.

It is a tad useless  and I am not sure if it could be used to make a lawful case I hope anyone reading can understand what I mean. Not many/any of us is in a position to really go that far.

But in this is a link from the RSPB about baby birds (quite useful info if you need to asses a situation).

BUT in the second paragraph it states

    Is the fledgling in danger?

    YES

If the bird is on a busy path or road, or other potentially dangerous, exposed location, you can pick it up and move it a short distance to a safer place. Make sure you leave it within hearing distance of where you found it. Birds have a poor sense of smell so handling a young bird won't cause its parents to abandon it.

"If you have cats, make sure you keep them indoors until the fledglings are airborne. In any conflict of interest between wild animals and domestic pets, it's always the domestic pet that must give way."

Sorry I have forgotten how to quote properly or highlight the paragraph.

But referencing or quoting this at the persons concerned might at least give us a little leverage.
Be it birds butterflies dragonflies reptiles. Any wildlife in our gardens that someone elses pet is killing or injuring causing nuisance to including us .

We should not have to spend time and money it should be the owners.
I should not have to cry or have sleepless nights over dying injured little birds or other wildlife that I try to make a haven for in our garden.
I am not soft or stupid.
I accept truly wildlife predators often take things we like best.
Domestic cat / owners should no longer have that niche get out of jail free card.
