Not the most practical solution but one which worked for one specific moggy which regularly left its calling card in our garden. Shooing it away had no effect, but I saw it asleep in the garden one day so filled a bucket with water, crept down the garden to within a couple of feet of it, chucked the water and screamed at the same time. I swear the cat shot 6 feet in the air and disappeared as if somebody had put a rocket up its..... I never saw that one again, it's probably still running.
Water is often the best deterrent but those cat owners who let their pets wander freely outside their own gardens aren't always too thrilled to have a soggy cat running home. However, it is a "humane treatment " as opposed to some of the remedies espoused - both on this forum and elsewhere. Yes, they certainly can be considered as Pests but that is solely due to those owners who do not accept their responsibility to their neighbours, the environment or other - more natural - wildlife. If toxic treatment is suggested for cats, where do you draw the line ? Pigeons, Crows, Jackdaws, Jays, Foxes, Weasels, Otters, Voles, Badgers to name a few possibles - in other words, whatever happens to annoy you ? You could also include Politicians, Celebs, Influencers, Royalty, Taxes etc. etc. There you go @Sheps
If Boris Johnson was regularly using my garden to empty his bowels, putting out some wiff-waff burgers laced with something terminal would be extremely tempting.

If a couple of other members had made the same comments there would be uproar.

I suspect the lack of reaction is because many people feel exactly the same way but haven't been brave enough to put it into words.
If some other members had suggested the poisoning of cats then they would have been vilified for it.
But in this case not even a Flag.
