I always forget about Macplants. Should take a run through one day, but the nursery I use is only 45 mins, so a fair bit nearer. Perhaps next time I visit my sister I could go there first.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Ceres I visited Fibrex on a coach trip. Lots of glass and poly tunnels as you would expect. A very warm welcome of homemade cake and a cup of tea was followed by a short introduction.
I still remember this visit so very clearly. There was the most incredible collection of Pelargoniums nothing like I had ever seen. A poly tunnel full of Ivies over various structures used with such imagination.. These did the rounds of all the large shows.
A greenhouse full of tiny treasures including some rare ferns. Then a small area of perennials each one carefully considered.
On the website it has been made very clear that there will be some changes later in the year due to retirement.I hope they continue to thrive and that their wonderful plants contiue to be enjoyed by so many gardeners.
There are lots of good experiences regarding buying plants on line I am sure others will continue to add some positives.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
I buy grasses and perennials from Knoll gardens, always excellent quality plants and well packaged. I've recently had two deliveries of perennials from Hardys Cottage Garden Plants, also excellent plants and well packaged.
Same warning for anything bought online, not just plants.
I have bought from pretty much all of the online plant sellers recommended above. Never from the one the OP has had such bad luck with. There are one or two others I wouldn't trust either (the sort who advertise in the tabloids).
bédé is just wrong about buying online. Sure there are some rip off merchants out there but if you look at where they are based/their returns and shipping policies you can generally avoid Chinese knock-off sites.
I think the companies who show very misleading photos of plants are often the worst, and they're often the ones which people post about. By that, I mean the colours of plants and the placement - often showing several plants in the same site which have completely different requirements. There's been a few this year already. I have a feeling there's another one at the moment - a lady who bought a trug for veg growing. I may ask her about it, on the thread she started, as she's asked another question about her veg.

There are good and bad in all areas of life. Don't condemn all online suppliers because one is bad. I've bought online in the past and had everything from great to terrible service.
