I have to admit I have a sweet tooth. I like mousses but I don't like Île Flottante, too eggy, don't like eggs unless the whites are disguised in something like cakes or an omelette.
The family are going canoeing on the river today, not us, so they want an early lunch and I've woken up late, still on English time. I must go to the baker.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all, just having tea in bed at the hotel. OH has gone down to the swimming pool for a quick swim before breakfast. The buffet last night in the barn was actually good, beautiful local produce, fresh artisan bread and lots of salady choices, followed by Eton Mess or syrup tart with the farm's own cream - yummy. Then we took our friends back to the hotel, squeezed into their bedroom, drank prosecco and chatted till late. I still woke up though at 5 am this morning which was jolly annoying. I think's it's just the daylight creeping in. I ought to have brought my sleeping mask.
Looks better weather today thankfully. I'll take a book to read in the car whilst all the old cars are being judged (extremely boring bit, that) and the event will end about 4 pm. The four of us plan to eat in the hotel tonight to celebrate both my friend and I's birthdays next week. Eating out on a Sunday night is a bit problematic these days.
dinner went well last night and a good time was had by all. Cleaned up this morning then went for a little walk. Weather is grey and a little rain did happen. Lots to pack before we leave on Wednesday: mainly stuff for my son who has moved back to London. 4 sleeps until Cambridge Folk Festival 🎻🪕🎶. Quite a few changes there this year but I am sure it will be the usual success.
Not much of Sunday left but I hope you do enjoy it.
Afternoon folks. Just sitting with my legs in the sun watching the bees and butterflies. As usual it’s the Lavenders that win the bee-magnet prize. I’ve seen at least 4 varieties of butterflies today, which is heart-warming.
yay - invoices done, work tidied up, out of office message activated - 2 weeks off . Not exactly stellar weather but hopefully some usable gardening days - so much to do.... Hope everyone is OK

Not sure how to post this, so be ready for a long post! I had a nice surprise today. Explanation:- The Series 2 Landrover club is celebrating 65 years of the Series 2A (born 1958). It has an old bonnet from a 2A touring round the UK this year, visiting all the local groups of the club and raising money for Children in Need as it goes. It has covered most of Southern England so far, stopping off at unusual places, agricultural shows etc., staying week or so in each group area and being carried from area to area via Series 2A's belonging to members. Well, last weekend it crossed the old Seven Bridge from England into Wales and into the home of our group leader. Today it had breakfast in Swansea with members from that area, then proceeded along the M4 to Carmarthen and to the Gwili steam railway headquarters. Here it paused long enough to climb aboard the front of one of the steam engines for a trip down the rails while the three members transporting it relaxed in one of the carriages. (we are really all quite mad - one group took the bonnet for a trip on the Thames in a rowing boat! Anything for publicity) I was hoping to join them down at the railway as it is quite close to us but my recent health blips really made this impossible, so I made my apologies with great disappointment. Imagine my surprise and delight when I received a text to say they were leaving the railway and would be doing a detour to my farm to show me the bonnet and to say Hi. (the bonnet has been divided into some 20 sections which is giving each of the groups visited the chance to decorate their section with things, models, paintings from their area of the country - eg amongst other bits a painting of the white horse is on the Wiltshire area and we have already added a miniature bridge crossing a river on the border between us and the Bristol area) When the bonnet finally reaches its destination up country at the annual meeting for all Landrovers, the whole bonnet will be a mass of interesting features from the whole of the uk. However I suddenly had my yard full with 4 Land Rovers and some lovely guys who spent an hour drinking tea, eating a few cakes and talking Land Rover (and saying nice things about my old 1962 girl). I had never met any of them before so I really appreciated their kindness in bothering to re-route themselves to enable an elderly pensioner to feel included on this special bonnet/Children in Need effort. The bonnet will criss cross Wales over the next week before crossing back to England from North Wales. Then more touring round England and into Scotland, plus popping over to one or two islands round the west coast and a quick trip to Northern Ireland before returning to England to the annual rally. So be patient if you encounter a line of Land Rovers travelling the roads this year, and should you catch several loafing Landy's outside a pub or somewhere of interest, stop and ask if the have the famous Bonnet!!
Very very muggy this morning. We had some showers earlier this morning which has probably refreshed the leaves some. The ground is just damp. Luckily, I sprinkled fertiliser on the veggie patch yesterday evening.
@AnnaB Very interesting post. Shame we won't see them down here!! Enjoy your holiday @raisingirl I hope the weather is clement for you.
Happy day to all the Christines!
