    Hi all

Feeling a bit out of it today, so only just got up, but I've done my exercises and am hopefully going outside for a few minutes when Moira has finished her jobs.

    Good afternoonĀ

Windy here, this morning rained a little. Very. Little.

Tomorrow evening I have friends for dinner so today was spent shopping and prepping.

Blackberries and late raspberries are ripening. There's already an autumnal feel to the garden. The aronia leaves are already turning red. I adore autumn but in the middle of July? It must be the dryness. And I haven't seen swifts today: have they already left?šŸ˜”

    Morning all.

Yesterday was a busy day. Bedrooms are cleaned and beds made for Daughter 1 and her OH and 3 teenage sons. Sitting room and dining room have been dusted. Coq au vin is made, but with chicken, so is orange and almond cake and a coconut cake which will have whipped cream and strawberries piled onto it.

Now, hopefully, bread is rising. I say hopefully as the yeast is past its sell by date.

    Good morning everyone

Beautiful day here. Ā S'going to be hot again but not to worry.

The Feria is on in the village this weekend but bull games are no longer an existing thing (entails getting the buttons off the bulls horns etc. - nothing cruel) but cruel it is, so cancelled. Ā

Still, plenty of clubs have their stands out selling merguez, paella etc. Ā to raise money for their club's coffers. Ā So, as a rugby supporter I will be eating at the rugby stand tonight. Ā They usually do gardiane of taureau but the corrida in Beziers has been cancelled now too. Ā (Good thing!) Ā May send photos.

I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend with their guests and excursions. Ā Aches and pains aside.Ā

    Good morning.

So far this morning mother, aka the wandering minstrel, has been up since 6.30. I'm all for getting up early but I sneak about, make coffee and retire quietly to my computer/book. She, on the other hand, lets the zoo out of all the zoo places so that they can fight/play/chase each other round the house! I thought I could leave them all to it until I realised she had let my dog out of the sunroom. Anyone who has the cat/labrador combination knows what that means. Truffle hunting! Up I got and round I went.

Normally in the mornings I regain consciousness but not this morning. 🤨
Nap time may come earlier than usual today but it's raining anyway...

    Morning all

Last night's pop-up shop preview evening went really well - lots of people came and a few bought things.Ā  It was hard work getting it ready, then a quick dash home for a shower and a bit of supper before getting back there.Ā  Then when finally got home - pudding!Ā  We always treat ourselves to a sticky toffee pudding when we get a SM delivery so that with ice cream!Ā  How indulgent!

Ok ā€˜eck @plant pauper … sounds like a trying morning šŸ¤— @WonkyWomble was just telling me about the afternoon the spent this week with a customer’s husband who has dementia … she spends time ā€˜helping’ him ā€˜tidy the shed’ etc … she said he enjoys it because she laughs and jokes with him, and he feels that he’s doing something ā€˜useful’ and his wife gets to go out and have some time to herself, knowing he’s safe and happy.Ā

Glad the shop went well @didyw.Ā
Sticky toffee pudding and icecream eh … don’t think I’ve ever had sticky toffee pudding (I never have room for anything other than a light pud or fruit and cheese) … it might have to be tested … šŸ¤”Ā

Yesterday chez nous was very busy  … first a trip to the hospital where the nurse was happy with OH’s toe and he just has a light dressing on it now.Ā
After that we went into the city to Hobbycraft and Morrisons (first time for a good while) … the latter was a huge disappointment … lots of stuff just not there … particularly the fresh meat .., no offal at all nor lamb of any description to be found, and pork only had the standard joint, mean-looking chops, and bits in luminous orange marinades. No sign of the pork hocks, cheeks, trotters etc I used to buy there. Also no fresh herbs to speak of and a very poor selection of salad stuff and the fruit looked very tired. Loads of garden furniture tho’

While I was in there I had a call from son … he’d gone to work early and his car was booked in for a repair while he was there … however having taken the driveshaft etc to bits the mechanic found he’d been sent the wrong part … rather than waste the mechanic’s time putting it back together only to take it apart again next week, son left the car there and a colleague gave him a lift to Stowmarket station … was it possible for me to pick him up from Norwich station in about 20 mins or should he get a cab back here? Fortuitously Morrisons is only a few yards from Norwich station so I popped into Hobbycraft for my thread and we drove into the station forecourt just as son walked through the porticoĀ Ā 8-Ā I may have to lend him my car next week tho’. Not a problem.Ā

This morning has been productive too … laundry done and hung on the rack as it looks as if it’s going to rain, a loaf of bread is cooling, Suffolk rusks in the oven, a huge lamb rogan josh is in the slow cooker (tonight’s supper plus to freeze for suppers for DS), floors done, courgettes pickedĀ Ā shockĀ and beans soaking to make minestrone tomorrow … think that’s enough for today šŸ˜‡Ā
