Good morning all 😊 ☕️ @AnnaB when my parents were finding things a bit tiring I put some garden seats about the place .., they said it really helped … they had the chance to sit and take a breather (and enjoy looking at the garden) between tasks rather than struggle on to finish all the jobs before they sat down.
They said having the seats where they actually needed them helped them to enjoy the garden again.
We have another morning of blue sky and sunshine, but it’s been quite breezy and a bit cooler for the last few days. Looks as if the highest it’ll get to today is 22C … which is fine by me … 😊

Good morning all. @AnnaB yesterday I had a "fort day" or tried to. Sometimes you just want to sit and clock. I don't know why it's called clock but that's what my dad called it. 😍 Every good garden design should include seating areas (upturned buckets) in order to take time to enjoy the view. I read that somewhere so it must be true. Ensure that you don't sit down too low in case you can't get up again! 🤣 I have a fishing chair to trap the non-anglers and the unwary visitor. It's really comfy while you're in it and then the games begin... Enjoy your garden.
Hi, Punkdoc, hope you are feeling ok and not getting too stressed about your upcoming op, or whether it will be delayed or not. Hi all. Love the idea of garden seating placed conveniently for watering the plants, and for just generally enjoying the flowers and foliage, something I frequently forget to do. Arrived in Oxford safely and spent yesterday having a lovely walk in town, huge contrast between the hordes of tourists hogging the pavements and the serenity of the college gardens and the deer park. I was just pointing out some Solomon’s seal to my daughter, and saying that all our plants get stripped by caterpillars. Got to the next clump of plants and there they were, a group of grey sawfly caterpillars chomping away. Luckily someone else’s problem! Weather very pleasant, very pleased we delayed our trip until this weekend, couldn’t have walked the distance we did in last weeks heatwave. Hope all have a good day.
I thought I'd posted on here yesterday - maybe in the wrong spot!!
Lovely dovely for your presentation for a summery July. Cinnamon swirls are looking delish!!
Very very windy here. The wisteria is all over the place but it is far too windy to play around with trailing branches at the moment. Honeysuckle needs attention. I am trying to train it over a roof where the wheelie bins are. Olive flowers, which are now brown and dried up are all over the place. No chance there of a sweep either. So, having biked with the dog, done a little hand washing, all I can really do is sit and relax!
Nimes has had some upstarts wreacking havoc last night, but nothing to declare in Beziers. Unimaginable what is happening. There is much support for the police force.
I’m halfway through my Mindfulness course and this week’s homework is about using our senses to connect with the here and now. This lends itself so beautifully to those moments when we sit in the garden and just stop. See the green and any other colours, hear the sounds of birds or the wind, smell the air or fragrant plants and touch the textures that nature has created. I think as garden-lovers we all do this to a degree, but I really recommend taking a moment to actively connect with our gardens like this.
Ok, enough of the fluffy stuff… have a pleasant Sunday all. I need to buy a new rotary washing line today as, after spending ages re-threading new line on it last week, the arms have finally given up (previous repair on those plus it had a few inches off the height last year as the pole had crumbled at the base) so it’s time to retire it.
Good morning all, It’s a brighter and slightly less blustery day so far today than yesterday, so hope to get out and trim back the hedge which is starting to throw up straggly branches which need attention before it becomes unmanageable. The idea of chairs placed in strategic places around your garden is a good one @AnnaB. It should help you in your task. I’m sorry to read that you are feeling so low at the moment and hope that things improve for you quickly. Your trip sounds very pleasant @Ergates.
Raining here, sadly I think it is more annoying rain rather than the useful stuff.
Have to admit I am fairly stressed about upcoming op. and the strike. I have my pre op. assessment this week.
Glad your trip is going well, @Ergates, I love Oxford, some of the Colleges have lovely gardens. I was lecturing down there a few years ago and stayed in one of the Colleges, it was like stepping back in time.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hi everyone, bright but a cool breeze here. Spent the morning pottering in the garden, watering, deadheadingas etc. Yesterday we were at a memorial service for someone we both worked with in the past it was a good do as far as these things go. My old boss sent a video message, we were a bit shocked at how much he has aged, it's been 3-4 years since we last saw him. He is only 7 years older than me, but there it is. Hope everyone on here with ills and issues get a resolution soon.
