I used to have a rain gauge but it broke some years ago … I’ve just ordered another.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

I just leave a bucket out so if I've been in London I can see if it rained here (as it quite often rains in London but not here). About half a cm in there this evening, I guess from this morning, so I'm happy with that!

@jennyj I have been thinking about a water syphon but truthfully, are they difficult to set up? Limited D.I.Y and technical skills here! Is there a particularly simple system for people like me?!

    It's very straight forward.

I've been away for a few days, came back to almost 20mm in the gauge :) . OH says it rained Tuesday and Wednesday but not yesterday so it'll be an under-estimate because there'll have been some evaporation.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
