There was a time, a few years ago, when our bungalow would very often be up in the clouds so any rain about and we would get it, not so now, the rain comes in and just by passes us and goes up the Bristol Chanel.
The land has just got too hot we don’t hold the clouds anymore.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I've jut put out all my fancy garden cushions, so hopefully that should guarantee a storm. We had been forecast for lunchtime today but the Met office seem to have now pushed that back to 5pm-ish. Spent yesterday getting the garden all nice and trim and tidy, and all my pots lined up in preparation.
We got some rain sometime after I went back to sleep. The weather radar suggests it lasted about an hour, 1mm in the gauge when I got up and went outside to check. More is forecast for this evening 🤞🤞
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
We somehow missed the last storm in our area, everyone I spoke to who lives nearby spoke about torrents but we barely got a drop.
Hopefully the forecast for tonight will be correct and we get a good dose.
That's how I keep feeling @Latimer. I was over in East Sussex for lunch today, half an hour from here, and we had steady rain there and all along the drive back. I get to my village and the ground's bone dry! Nothing! I wasn't even surprised.. same old story..
But not to worry, we've had steady rain for the last 2 hours and no sign of it letting up. It smells amazing! So nice to put my feet up and not have to water anything this evening!
