Agapanthus Black Jack RHS Plant of the year 2023. Inky black buds opening to deep purple. Sorry it is sideways you would have been suprised if I had got it the right way up!
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Looks much lighter than I expected. Still, if it really repeats flowering it would be worth getting.

Thankyou @Pitterpatter I took the photo and made a comparison, it is darker in real life! It is growing in a south facing garden a few miles away from here, so just the one photo.
I did see another evergreen recently called A Poppin Purple  so perhaps there will be a deciduous one too.

    Storm Cloud last summer

    Storm Cloud in February

Storm Cloud just now. Only six flower heads but I’m happy with that

By contrast 39 heads on Midnight Blue but it’s not fully out yet

    Rutland, England
  • Agapanthus Inkspot I thought was dead after last winter, has shown absolutely no top growth, I just went to dig it out and plant something new but have found lots of intact healthy roots. Any suggestions how to proceed, should I leave it alone to see if it sends up leaves next year, any one else found this after last winter? Thanks

@RedTulip I have known this to happen andnot just last year. The next year a few leaves and then just the odd flower. It was in my old garden so not sure of it's progress.
I did think it wasn't happy and would have moved it had I stayed. The only problem is best time for this job is spring, however you might be lucky now if you want to do so and are quick.
