It's complicated, @war garden 572, as are most things to do with
governments. We can be called 'subjects' but only because we don't have
a constitution or a piece of paper that says we're not. However, laws
introduced during the break-up of the British Empire introduced the word
'citizen' to differentiate residents of the UK from other British
subjects living in other parts of 'the Empire'.
The
truth seems to be that we can be called either but how you want to
identify yourself is, as it should be in all matters, up to the individual.
When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits ?
Educated, @Sheps ? Naaaaa ! It's just that I have lots of time to type stuff into my browser's search bar (don't ask) and a very, probably unhealthy, pedantic streak a mile wide

Our village picnic is tomorrow. Weather forecast isn't the best but fingers crossed... Free cake, free ice cream and a band. One villager will have a stall of his excellent home brew (he's good enough to supply a couple of pubs). Not bad for a village of fewer than 300 residents.
I imagine most of the picnics will look very like yours @BenCotto - quiche, sandwiches, sausage rolls and various salads. No hot food unless you count the teas and coffees.
Enjoyed the coronation yesterday. I think after C&C and the Wales children, it was Penny Mordaunt who stole the show.
How on earth she managed to stay standing ramrod straight in heels holding that sword for 2 hours is beyond me - a real feat of endurance. And her outfit was amazing. Modern, simple and a beautiful colour but the style and the trim somehow made it look like a traditional livery costume. Five gold stars for her!
@rowlandscastle444 - hope your wife managed to get a good view and didn't get too wet🙂
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I never watched any of it myself, but a few things have stood out to me. You can't protest freely any more. Some folk live very comfortable lives shielded from the reality of the majority. Also, there are some folk that probably seem normal to their neighbours, but seem to have a very disturbed personality.
Oh oh ! Photos of children on the internet. Hope their parents’ permission was sought and granted beforehand or there could be a whole pile of trouble heading towards the poster. Please, no argument, this is serious stuff these days.

She spent 3 hours trudging, like thousands of others, in the rain trying to get close, without success. Came home disappointed, having had so much success a few years ago at the Diamond Jubilee - was one of the front people surging up the Mall.
Just as well I recorded it all for her. She's been watching this afternoon, while I worked in the garden.
Had a look at a few stills. Penny Mordaunt's attire had more class than the rest of them put together. What on earth was that woman in the inflatable yellow dress thinking? Bad form to wear a large silly hat to that kind of do I'd say - especially if I was sitting behind her.
