Terrific @w2tkc4y9dtvXGHZNxu. Enjoy using it now, although if you're already taking your morning coffee out there, that's a job well done I used to like doing that when we renovated the garden in the property we had round the corner from here, after doing an extension. Just that fifteen minutes before the next lot of jobs needed doing [young children at that stage] was a delight. There's quite a few threads about seed sowing, so if you need help with any of that, you may find it there. If not just ask
You may find it easier to buy some small tomato and strawberry plants for this year though. Readily available in most places including DIY stores and bargain shops as well as GCs. Strawbs create runners, so you can easily build up stock from those too. Again - if you need any help with those, just ask. Good luck with it all.

@w2tkc4y9dtvXGHZNxu really wonderful transformation. Your children are going to benefit so much as well from all your hard work.
Don't forget to check Facebook marketplace for things like children's outdoor play equipment- people often give it away or sell it for peanuts after their kids outgrow it. It's also a good place to get cheap planters and things.
One of my children has severe SEN and they have benefited a lot from a quiet bench in the garden- perhaps a little one tucked away under that beautiful tree would be a nice thing for yours?
Keep at it... it's wonderful. You should feel proud.
Well done you! I love to hear about people making their garden somewhere they now enjoy being in, it's amazing what a difference it makes to our demeanour isn't it? It really does lift my spirits when I'm sitting in the garden, or pottering about in bare feet on warm grass and slabs - there's so much you can add for sensory purposes too, (I'm thinking about soft, furry leafed plants etc) which is very important for some people with learning disabilities and autism isn't it? Great job! 😊
@w2tkc4y9dtvXGHZNxu A lot of the hard work has now been done. Great to see that your children are adding their thoughts and want to grow things for themselves. This will add a new and a special dimension to all your lives I am sure.
When my daughter was three she refused to eat greens. Then she grew some runner beans in a big pot and loved them! It is so special growing something for yourself.
It is a privileged to read your posts, you are a credit not only to your family but you also inspire others. Thank you.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
Thanks everyone ^__^ I have really surprised myself so far with this.
In terms of my boys - they’re both older around the age of 10 and have a tendancy to be glued to their Nintendo switches or TV a lot so im hoping this will encourage them outside on days im not up to park visits (often leads to physical fighting but so does sitting around all day) we all fleed DV just over 3 years ago and since then have had a really rough couple of years with them in terms of daily violence between them both (and myself) it’s only since moving here in August they have began to really settle and calm down but there are still lots of ongoing complex behavior issues and struggles with emotional regulation.
I’m a very patient and naturally calm person with a ton of tolerance but I struggle silently with a build up of stress on some of the more difficult days. I haven’t had my own bedroom since my children where toddlers as it’s always been apparent having space away from each other is crucial for everyone’s sanity (and safety) so I spend a lot of my time in one room ; my living room / bedroom. Now having an extra space to go and be with nature which I love is all I could have wanted and with a tree (I always wished for my own tree one day) kay I’m waffling now haha
A “peaceful” bench sounds perfect under my tree - however what you can’t see on the photos is the reality of noise I have in my garden .. peaceful as it looks There is a motorway and train track right behind the back of my garden and as soon as I step outside it’s a wall of noise that just gets louder the closer I get to the back. I’m used to it now especially when my boys are at school I wear my headphones, but it was a shock first moving here. Funnily enough though my younger son adhd/asd/spd/ocd loves the noise and has a similar noise machine in his bedroom. He likes to take a chair under the tree and watch the motorway cars and surround himself in the racket lol
I have ideas for things I’m gonna save for to fill up a surprise box outside that’s going to appear in the garden one day , I’m sure they will love and hoping will get them off screens for a couple of hours a day
All I can say @w2tkc4y9dtvXGHZNxu is that you are a most admirable, courageous and brave lady to achieve what you have. You have come through a dreadful tempestuous time in your life but just look where you are now. Never underestimate where you are now, it is all down to you and your determination to put yourself and boys into a much better environment and your garden is looking absolutely splendid. Very very well done👍
I echo that - give yourself some time to enjoy it all though too I'm sure your family will have great fun exploring, and playing, and doing all the things that are enjoyable, in a safe happy place. The simple pleasures when children are young
The fact that you say you're thick skinned doesn't excuse the rudeness, so I'm glad the mods removed that. You shouldn't be receiving that kind of stupid comment, and it's very sad that you didn't receive any apology from the person.

I think I have read somewhere that having your hands in soil can improve your mental wellbeing. Not sure how true it is but if it is correct it would explain why so many people get pleasure from gardening.
