Maybe you should try one of those then. This is a gardening forum which relies on the goodwill of its members to respond to questions covering a multitude of subjects. If you are not happy with the responses that you received, it may be better for your research purposes to try elsewhere.

I gave you that link to help you with your research @war garden 572. It isn't my research. I can't help it being Google France, my main home is in France. My computer says Google with United Kingdom written on the bottom of my screen and I'm in the UK at the moment. How did you know it's Google France? I thought it was UK.

We are not paid researchers on this site. I am not paid. We are ordinary gardeners who help each other.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

It looks as if you have at least some titles to be going on with @war garden 572 - I don't suppose there are many posters on the forum who are of the age to have personal knowledge of the era you mention so can only use the same research tools which are available to you.
The RHS has already been mentioned as has the British Library, the various special interest societies and those seed companies which were in existence at that time.  Might be worth looking at Kew Gardens too.
Is there any particular reason why you want only a gardening "magazine" ? As said, newspapers often had a Gardening column and would no doubt have offered similar info if that is what you are after.
With regard to Womens magazines of that era, they were exactly that - covering subjects which most regarded as "womens work" which inevitably included gardening.  The actual word "lifestyle" wasn't much in evidence at that time.   You admit you are having some difficulty with the difference between UK and American English but you are asking for help on a UK site and you need to accept that the advice and info you receive will reflect that.

@war garden 572 you are incredibly rude. People are trying to help you but you are just throwing their suggestions back at them. Why don't you try using Google yourself or can't you be bothered to sift through the results and just want everything nicely  presented to you on a plate?

Needs a word from the mods as well though @nutcutlet. Not acceptable to respond to people in that way, when they're trying to be helpful.
Anyway, I've reported the thread. Hopefully someone will take action tomorrow.

    Agree, @Fairygirl.
Why should we have to ignore him? he should be removed for his long standing rudeness.
