It’s interesting that My Garden has a piece on primulas by Capt W. E. Johns, author of the Biggles stories. I have just googled him: additionally he was a pilot in both World Wars, was an illustrator, founded and edited an aviation magazine and was a prolific author not just of the Biggles books but also on things like ‘A Boys’ book of Pirates’ and a regular contributor to My Garden.
