@JennyJ Unfortunately, I can't find any longer the bag where it said 30% recycled plastic. It might indeed be related to the bag, but I remember to have read similar in other threads.
Okay, it's a bit far for you but there are 2 resellers below Sheffield: https://www.kirtonfarm.co.uk/stockists
We are lucky to get them in our favourite garden centres here. The choice is limited but enough to fill a garden.

Re: What kind of change?  Care to expand and expound, please?  Unless you mean not Monty because you don't like him for your own reasons...

I like Monty Don. I watched all of his "Gardens around the world" and other programs including podcasts. This is not about him as a person, but as others here also mentioned before, his garden and style is not everybody's cup of tea.
I also noticed far more enthusiastic comments when Frances was on duty.
Gardens have changed. Monty's "Hidcote" style is quite antique. Younger gardeners prefer a more natural look especially since Covid.

It's so sad to read that Nell has died. Our 4-leg friends are the best friends and we miss them so much when they are no longer with us.

    I my garden.

It doesn't seem 5 minutes since Nell was a young puppy annoying Nigel, then Ned was the youngster annoying her. I know she was a comparatively young dog, but time does fly.

When they showed the shots of Longmeadow where the box hedge had been removed l thought it was a heck of an improvement and even Monty said as much.
I think we get so used to looking at our gardens day to day that we don't always "see" them, if that makes sense.
I sometimes wish he'd thin out his planting a bit and let things have a bit more room, but it is his garden and like all of us, he gets pleasure from gardening his way.
The thought of having a million or so people (no idea what the viewing figures are) looking at my garden week after week makes me go cold 😁.

This series definitely seems to have improved imo and there seems to be a more varied and magazine type fee with a younger "vibe" in terms of viewer's videos etc. which is no bad thing, as long they remember the older demographic as well.

@Simone_in_Wiltshire You got my hopes up there! But the nearest two are Worksop and Bolsover which are both the better part of an hour's drive each way and not places that I'm going anywhere near for other reasons, so the petrol/car usage is probably worse than a couple of plastic pots.  But thanks anyway for posting the link.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    8pm tonight.

" With Halloween approaching, Monty takes stock of his pumpkins and squashes, plants up alpines and shows how to divide a large fern to create new plants.

Adam Frost and Advolly Richmond visit Hever Castle in Kent to learn more about the fascinating history and grand garden design, created by a man wealthy enough to build whatever he wanted.

Frances Tophill visits the gardens of the oldest Franciscan friary in Britain, where all the plants are grown for a practical purpose.

Nick Bailey travels to Newcastle to celebrate chrysanthemums, and there's a man growing a plethora of fruit and veg on a rooftop car park in Stockport. "
  • Lovely chrysanthemums. Plus a bonus for me - Hever Castle

Hever Castle looked superb. We stayed there just before Covid struck. Friends booked it for their daughter's wedding and we had the whole place to ourselves for the weekend. :)
  • I'm Very jealous, @steephill
    Lovely!!

Another enjoyable programme last night. I was a bit shocked when Monty said it was the last in the series next week, l couldn't believe it had come around so soon.

Hever Castle was beautiful. We visited in 2015 as it was on my bucket list and l loved it. Adam certainly seemed to be enjoying himself.

Must confess to getting a bit teary at the end with the news and videos of Nell. What a beautiful dog she was.
  • Same @AnniD! I was blubbing at Nell and I'm not overly bothered about dogs these days. The same thing happened when I saw a video made about her on Instagram.
I loved the topiary chess set, maybe a visit to Hever Castle to be added to next year's list.
