I agree, the best person for the job should get the job.

In which case give the role to Frances. Job done. Simples. :)

How can you do a show based on her garden, there is not nearly enough to maintain viewers interest. She would have to be one of several presenters for that to work.

The other issue I have with Frances, is that most of the veg. she seems to grow, I have never heard of, let alone eaten. Is this really a way to inspire beginners?

For the veg gardening sections my vote would go to Rekha (if she wanted the job). And it's nothing to do with age, gender or skin colour. I think she presents very well, is enthusiastic, knows her stuff and seems to grow a range of both common and unusual things.

  • I still think that it would be better to have a range of presenters. If you have anyone with a small garden, or limited range of fruit/veg/flowers/shrubs/soil type/aspect/etc, then that will turn some people away.

I think it works well now, but realise it helps to have a main presenter. But that main presenter doesn't need to have a huge garden, but rather the capability to hold it all together - much like a Managing Director within a company. Not everyone has that talent. However, it helps to have worked up through the ranks, as it were, to understand what is going on.
  • Always amusing reading some ridiculous outbursts displaying all the hallmarks of white fragility. But I suppose it's progress if bigots feel the need to comment as their TV programmes may not exclusively be the domain of white middle class folk with cut glass BBC accents 😂

Always amusing reading the comments of people who feel their comments mark them out as holier than the rest of us.
