I hope that wasn't aimed at me @amancalledgeorge . I never said anything about class, or that any one skin colour (or age or gender) should be preferred, just that the person best able to do the job should get the job (if/when there is a job going).
Of course, an employer might decide that a person who looks a certain way might resonate best with their intended customers (or viewers in the case of TV companies). I suspect the BBC might try to attract a younger audience for GW before all us oldies pop our clogs  :D.

You're probably right @punkdoc . Anyway, I must get on and do something instead of spending my whole day off noodling around on the internet!

When Gardener's World has finished for the year, and you don't want to watch the repeats of the American Gardens, what does one do on a Friday evening. I can't get out into the garden at this time of the day, and the neighbours would complain if I tried to mow the lawn.

Does one talk to the OH, the (non existent) cat, or to oneself?

Or perhaps an early night. 😴

There was a good Beechgrove on.
How can you lie there and think of England

I do like Monty Don but haven’t watched the programme since it went over to an hour slot.
I love Carol Klein,  I have several programmes recorded,  she does through the seasons sets.
these can probably all be found on you tube.  Here’s just one.

If you like the outdoors @rowlandscastle444, you may enjoy This Farming Life on BBC iPlayer. There's a new series running currently on BBC 2 Tuesdays. It's a delight and you'll be testing your linguistic skills to follow some of the dialogue! The scenery on the Isle of Skye is fantastic!

  • Ah! My wife is the linguist, but even she struggles with the far northern accent!!

We love This Farming Life too but find this years families pretty hard to understand too🙂🤭 but we pick up the relevant points from the voice over so. Such a hard working community and so interesting to watch.

I spent 5 years in Scotland @Songbird-2 so it's a good memory test for me! The best show on TV at the moment!
