I slept well, OH less so. He is finding sleeping on his back difficult. I am glad that his thigh seems more normal, it was quite hard and swollen. I got some more morphine, to replace what he spilt on the duvet. I went to the surgery, phone line full, they said they would ask a doctor. They rang in the afternoon so I went and picked up the prescription then went to the pharmacy in the next village.
I think it will be an ironing day today. 2 duvet covers waiting. I know I don't have to but I do like ironed bed linen.
I found 2 books by the front door yesterday, no note, then the lady down the road who we met recently who has a house in France, called round. She said her husband had finished with them so she thought OH might like them. Kind of her.
Great that the fund raising is going well for your son @Dovefromabove.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
It’s been a very drizzly and cold day here today. I did pop out, but didn’t linger long. That was kind and thoughtful of your neighbour @Busy-Lizzie. Glad you managed to get some replacement morphine for you OH, too.
Did some ironing and now just idling my time on the iPad.😊 I should stir myself, really…
I'm about to collapse into the chair and read my comic. (Gardens Illustrated - an indulgence). Day started with a near 2-hour zoom call with a consultant (paid for by local authority) on how to strengthen our local bus. assoc. so it's not just me doing all the work. We'll see what happens at the AGM.
Nice to see you @Nanny Beach - that's a lot of driving about your are doing!
I’ve being a bit lazy on my week off but I have done a little bit in the garden and am in the middle of sorting through my packets of seeds. I have a lovely new tin to keep them in. Most of the packs were ‘free’ with magazines so I just need to decide which ones to try as space is at a premium for raising seedlings. I’m just thinking what to do with the ones I won’t be using… I’m also thinking of a few things we can do as a work team for some well-being this year so there might be an idea there 💡
Weather wise it is a bit warmer than yesterday when we had winds and horizontal snow flurries. It was freezing. Today the temperature is 8°C and still windy.
@Busy-Lizzie the worst is not be able to turn over onto your side!! (or cross your legs) The pain will lessen as the flesh grows around the prothesis. It's always very painful when a bone has been cut away. I hope he realises the pain in his back and his groin have disappeared. It took about 6 months until I was pain free. My physio was 3 or 4 short walks on the flat every day. Early days yet. Be patient.
Went into Beziers to do various things, one of which was a trip to LeClerc - a supermarket that other "French" gardeners on this site use. There didn't seem to be any shortages on any of the aisles. Everything is amazingly so much more expensive, 4€ for a cauliflower is rather steep. Glad I have a couple on the go in my vegetable garden. I don't know how young families with teenagers survive.
Good (late) afternoon, very frosty start and cloudy with cold wind all day. Ideal for heavy digging, I am in the middle of clearing my old Asparagus bed, and there were 2 big clumps of Rhubarb to shift as well. My back is protesting now but it needed doing. Regards to all.
Evening all, golly, that's a lot of manure shifted @Hostafan1, you'll probably ache tomorrow. I've got 600 litres of bark mulch to shift but that will have to wait a bit.
I'm crossing my fingers that my asparagus actually grow this year @Allotment Boy, they're on notice!
That's a jolly good idea @Pat E . Hope it was a productive session.
I had a really good night's sleep after OH helped do another head manipulation and feel much better today, thank goodness. Even did a bit of gardening for an hour, watering some potted roses, brushing front door paving and refilling the birdbaths. Nothing too strenuous. Sad to see that I may have lost my lovely 10 yr old myrtle bush, I hope it survives.
Sorry to hear that OH is in pain @Busy-Lizzie, is he not taking his regular painkillers? I think my OH was prescribed a mix of codeine/paracetamol for daytime with morphine only if he needed it at night. The sleeping on the back thing is a nuisance but necessary as well as the dratted compression stockings. What a job that is to get those on and off! It should get easier within the next couple of weeks, it's amazing how quickly the wounds heal.

Brilliant sunny morning, but very frosty and a biting north easterly wind.

Now to put everything away.
Regards to all.
Dreary, cold day, have to admit I have done nothing.

Just come in from the garden. I've been moving manure all day. 14 builders' dumpy sacks emptied

Nice to see the fundraising is going well.
