    You're a braver man than me @punkdoc!
I think I'd have tried it with the right person, but the ex wouldn't have gone near that. He kept chickening out on the Glen Sheil ridge, so no chance of that  :D

@Plantminded Sadly I live a long way from the sea or at least it seems a long way to me.
My Father loved to photograph the sea especially a storm. As children Phil and I were with him, I look back now and at times it could have been dangerous. Caturing waves was the challenge. Phil wrote a book a long time ago in which he thanks my Father for all his help.

@Fairygirl Lovely photos, Scotland is so beautiful.  The clouds formations are stunning in your first photo I can see why it has a place in your heart.
Phil is going to Venice not Scotland so very different!

I remember being with him on The Isle of Wight a very long time ago. He had a commission to photograph the Island.  He was right at the edge of a cliff photographing a sunset. He calmly explained what he was doing, so my two small daughters could understand. I was terrified!  I think the photo is on his website somewhere but I don't like to look at it to this day.

@CrankyYankee Phil visited New England in the fall for many years. The biggest problem was being there at the right time. Too early and the leaves hadn't turned too late and they had fallen. Pleased you enjoyed them.

I have some nice pix of Venice too @GardenerSuze, as I went there some years ago. I don't look at the pix though, as they also bring up very bad memories.
    I'm sure I'll enjoy your brother's though.
I can understand the nervousness on cliff edges etc. I'm wary of water, but heights, narrow ledges etc don't bother me.
Has he ever been up Glen Nevis and tried the infamous Steall Bridge? You cross it to do the Ring of Steall - four of the Mamores.
My favourite mention of it was a walk report by a chap entitled - " The Ring of Steall. That's the minimum requirement! "  I still laugh whenever the bridge is mentioned.  :D

@Fairygirl I will ask him about The Ring of Steall.

I've not done the whole ring, for reasons I won't bore you with @GardenerSuze, but The Mamores are one of the great groups of hills up here [ten in total] the R of S being a group of four of them. You cross the Steall bridge and the Steall falls in Glen Nevis  to access them, although you can also do them from the Kinlochleven side.
The two Binneins [Mor and Beag] are a great walk, and one of my favourites is Sgurr Eilde Mor, the most easterly one. You wouldn't need to be a hill walker to access SEM, but it's a couple of hours walk to get to the lochan there, and he'd get great pix of the two Binneins, if he wanted to try it. On a good day, you can see Nevis etc too.  :)

  • There are some great images from the Scottish and other highlands of Britain here:

February that year, I think , for that pic @Plantminded :)
I have another [the classic view with the cottage]  from the day I did the Big Bookil, but I altered it not long ago to show someone the route up, and stupidly didn't use a copy, so the original has a permanent big yellow loop on it!  :s
    Nothing is permanent ;)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

How did you do that @wild edges?  Ya beauty - as we say here!
More importantly - how can I change it on the original pic in the laptop?  :D

Thank you very much @NormandyLiz. Very kind of you   :)
