Lovely pictures @Latimer. One of the bonuses, of having an active dog like Floss, is come rain or shine I'm out somewhere, but I fully understand what people are saying. It's all too easy to lose one's ' mojo', I hope you're back on the hills soon @Fairygirl 🤞.
Can anyone recommend a digitiser that would allow me to slowly work through my 100's of trannies? There are lots on Amazon, but I don't have any photographer friends or work colleagues (retired) who could give me a recommendation.
About a dozen years ago, just before I retired, I was able to borrow a then fairly expensive Nikon coolpix slides scanner from the Arts department at the university where I worked then. They let me have it for the whole of the summer holidays. It took me more than a week to scan just under 900 slides. Whichever scanning system you use it is a laborious task, especially if you want to refine your scans, by using the software usually associated with the hardware. I do not regret having done it at the time, not sure I could gather the courage to do it now!
As these scanners are rather expensive (if you go for good quality), you might consider borrowing or renting one, but not so easy to find. Another possibility of course is to go to a specialized service firm, but again they are pretty expensive (if good quality service)...
What is considered expensive is probably up to yo to decide but you can get something for around £350 which all things considered is not too bad, especially as you have so many to scan so you wouldn't have to rush if you owned this
Got out again on Wednesday and was quite glad that the cloud was down after all the heat. Pity it didn't clear until I was half way back down, as the views are great from the summit of this wee hill - The Brack
The little lochan - around 2,200 feet, and just half an hour from the summit
Watching the cloud moving across at the lochan above, I did something I don't often do and took some short videos, including the bit where you cross the burn [also very dry] and where I had a nice little break on the way back down. Pity I hadn't thought to do one at the bit where you come out from the woodland onto the hill, as the cuckoos were calling. https://youtu.be/MM_P4ULdFXw https://youtu.be/RC4XR74sYoE https://youtu.be/aw5B8wqHGQI
Still some cloud hanging around B. an Lochain's top and still a little on the other Arrochar hills
The view as in the first pic - clearer near the summit now
A few little horticultural pix: The orchids are a bit smaller than usual for the time of year - the dry ground on the hills is highly unusual
The lichen on the rock is always lovely the locals are never far away...between the lochan and the summit
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Does it spread by seed @wild edges? I could collect some for you. I don't see it on every hill, or I've possibly just not noticed it, but there's always a load of it on The Brack - there and a couple of other spots. I'd have to be there at the right time though. I'd always assumed it was a type of euphorbia rather than a sedum, but it's a really interesting little plant. Thanks for the ID
Thanks - I tend to forget about videos, but the absence of any of the nice views form the summit etc, made me think about doing it. I had the hill to myself too. I usually take pix from the other end of the lochan as you get a good view across to the Arrochar hills. Same on the summit, but there was very little visibility for those that day as you can see below!
