@Ergates there are honest garages around.  My wife's car overheated and the closest garage was one we hadn't used before.  The car was with them for 4 days and I dreaded the final bill.  When we went to collect it the bill was lower than I expected and they explained that the problem was a snapped belt which couldn't be seen until they took the water pump off.  They had done all sorts of diagnostics, system flushing etc before removing the pump and didn't charge us for most of it.  They said that if they had checked the pump first they wouldn't have had to do all the other stuff.

We've found an honest garage in the next village.  When we first moved here we went to the nearest Opel garage - 90km round trip - and weren't too impressed with either the prices or the service tho they'd been excellent in Belgium.

Pleased your missus is doingwell @KT53

We've just made our first batch of tomato soup for the season. Finally had enough ripe ones to make a worthwhile amount.

They are both lovely @pitter-patter.   Well done you.

My RTBC?  Dinner tonight was lamb kebabs and veggies with broccoli, baby red onions, yellow courgettes, garlic and herbs from the garden followed by rhubarb and strawberry crumble with fruit from the garden.  Added bonus?  Afternoon snack of first fresh apricots from our own tree.  Delicious and so much more juicy and tasty than shop bought.

That sounds gorgeous @Obelixx, especially the fresh apricots.

My RTBC, my gardener comes tomorrow and the new cleaner starts on Thursday. Both for an initial period of two months while I'm recovering and then we'll review. OH's nephew has been to measure up for a new small flight of stairs which will make OH's life easier when he has his second hip op.

Nobody's been cheerful for two days!

    I am.

Today my new chain arrived and my necklace is back! I've had it so long that I don't even remember where it came from and I've missed it since I finally snapped the chain by trying to lift a radiator with it.

My neighbour o:) had us down for an evening of good old craic and appeared from the kitchen with bowls of strawberries with cream and ice-cream. I love that woman.

What is wrong with you you miserable shower? Maybe I've just got used to finding little bits of nugget amongst the crud so I look harder.
Today I'm going to see the fruit man. Aforementioned neighbour  o:) told me about him so I'm going to arrange a quick mortgage and buy me some cherries. Cherries are the best fruit.
The man rang yesterday about recovering my suite and will come for it in a week or two by which time my floor will have been measured and it can be fitted while the suite is gone.
All is good at chez PP but it's still early...!

....AND my mountain ash berries have made it through to deep red. They've normally been completely stripped by now!
