Afternoon all, not nice today at all so more daff planting has had to be postponed. Walked a fair bit this morning, down to the GP's for our flu jabs and back again in the rain. Succumbed to temptation walking past the baker's and bought a yummy apple and sultana Danish - just for me as OH went on into town to meet his old colleagues for a pie and a pint.
Must wrap his birthday presents up while he's not here and then hide them again.
I can't get motivated either @Busy-Lizzie, I really need to tidy the airing cupboard as the Loft thread got me thinking of all rubbish I've got in there as well as old sheets, duvets, pyjamas etc I could throw out. Perhaps in a minute when I've finished playing on here.
Another restaurant and four apartments would be an awful lot to take on DD so take your time thinking about it.
Hello all, a beautiful Autumn day and very warm in the sun. Been pottering in the garden until arthritic painful hips and neck curtailed the enjoyment after a while. @D0rdogne_Damsel, maybe the apartments could be used for employees who need a job and don't live nearby. Just a thought as it is a lot to think about, so don't rush in to anything.
@Wrigs21 love that reel - very clever to see views from exactly the same spot each time. So good to have reminders of how things change. In the early spring when I’ve done all my cutting back and mulched everywhere, I look at the expanse of “mud” and find it hard to believe it will soon be full of colour with not a scrap of “mud” to be seen. How did you do it? Did you leave a camera in the same position all year? (NB to others: You need an Instagram account to view it - worth creating an account. There is so much gorgeous gardening stuff on there.)
Interested to read about your photo album @Busy-Lizzie. You have inspired me to do the same - one for each of our 2022 trips. Will make a nice pressie for Mr C.
Now that England have won the cricket I suppose I had better get myself up, dressed amd on with my day 😊
Yeah just took shots on the phone trying to keep to same spot which was tricky. Nice to see the seasonal changes. Instagrams great for following gardeners and borrowing tips. About to re-model bottom area based on a garden I’ve seen on there
A classic grey November day with constant drizzle and not warm enough to be comfortable. Still on heating OFF mode but I may crack later. My energy bill last month was a bit alarming already.
It was a nice day. I planted 70 daffodil bulbs in the orchard this afternoon. Took me over 2 hours. Loads of cranes few overhead in great V formations on their way to warmer climes for the winter.
My loft still has stuff in boxes from my French house move in January 2021. I hate the loft as most of it isn't high enough to stand up in and there are beams to bang your head on. OH asked me for the paper hole punch but I haven't seen it, probably still in a box marked study in the loft.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning everyone. We’ve got a nice calm warm morning here today. I’ve taken some cloud photos and put them on the jigsawplanet site. 😁
I’m feeling marginally better today, but I’m not confident that it’ll last. I’ve started the medication for thyroid problems and waiting for other scans etc. my next scan appt is for Nov 30! Just as well I’m still here!
YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2022, WHEN... 1. You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave. 2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three. 4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you. 5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses. 6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your mobile phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries... 7. Every commercial on television has a Web site at the bottom of the screen. 8. Leaving the house without your mobile phone, which you didn't even have the first 20 or 30 (or 80) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it ! 10. You get up in the morning and go on-line before getting your coffee. 11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. 12 You're reading this and nodding and laughing. 13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message. 14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list. 15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.
Hello Pat! Nice to see you back and well enough to give us all a laugh
Lovely cold 4°C autumn morning here - sunny and still. Hope it holds. Cloud photo: Hmm. My first reaction was that of Snoopy when he jumps up in the air (cloud on the right).
@Busy-Lizzie Ah, those unpacked boxes! Just goes to show what we don't need, doesn't it?
I went through my books yesterday and have a large bag for the local library. They have a good "international section" so the books will be welcome. Also some story books that I used at primary school and are just sitting there gathering dust - have found a home with a young South African couple who have a 2 yr old. Fox in Sox, 1 fish 2 fish, red fish blue fish are amongst some. There is even Eric Carle's The Hungry Caterpillar.
@D0rdogne_Damsel 4 apartments as well as another restaurant (however small - or big) could be the last straw. Tenants have all the rights and it would probably be just bad luck if you got a bad one..But nevertheless ..... If you were to do B & B, the flats would have to be fully furnished - and there is always something missing. I've done that. It's a long term commitment. Could you enquire at the Council if the restaurant is under separate title? (I mean, the seller may just be saying they are one - the French!!) Another downside is that property needs constant maintenance and you could be in for some unforeseen repairs. Tread carefully. You are doing so well in your present premises - and don't you believe it - Charlie will always need you around - in fact the older he gets - the harder life becomes and you need to be there when he stumbles. Sorry to go on.
Today is Saint Leonard - toute vermine part. If it is cold enough that is to say! I am squishing green caterpillars still off my brassicas. Sheesh!!

Have a good weekend folks.
