Dropped OH off for a Health Check for chaps of a certain age. It’s right in the middle of the night club scene on in Norwich … seems unusual but perhaps it has another string to its bow in the evenings…
Anyway, I’ve parked in a carpark near the station and football ground. It’s about a 15 min walk from the clinic so he has the choice of ringing me to pick him up and then waiting at least 30 mins while I circumnavigate the city centre via its constantly changing one way system … or walk 15 mins down the road and over the R. Wensum and find me. I forgot to bring my book, so I’ll have to noodle with you lot … anyone got the kettle on?

The talk at the gardening club yesterday was interesting. It was about the history of tulips with lots of projected photos which was interesting. Tulips got so expensive you could buy a house in Holland with the proceeds from one bulb, then the market crashed. After the talk there was a bring and share lunch. I knew some of the people there, some had visited my old garden when I used to open it and some go to the C of E church in the village 10 minutes from here. The gardening club has its meeting in a community café about 5 minutes drive away. Nearly everyone was English. The meeting next month will be a Christmas party.
It should be sunny today so I'll plant the botanical tulips that I bought the other day, also some saffron crocuses that someone was giving away at the gardening club. Better look up how to grow them.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Upsetting to read that you are still in discomfort, Punkdoc. Maybe ask the dentist to check it again before they close for the weekend? Grey and cloudy today. Tauntingly, the sky over the sea is blue and sunny, but the wind seems to be heading along the coastline, instead of inland. Still, hoping for a bit of a walk before heading home. Another stretch of laurel hedge to trim if it stays dry enough. I have rather cheekily been sticking some of the pruning straight into the ground where there are gaps in the hedge, to see if any of them will take root. I’m hoping they just might, based on what happened in the past, where there were so many pruning to collect and dispose of, that I left them lying on the ground for later, and forgot about them. When I got round to it the following year, lots of them had rooted.
Just caught up with yesterday as completely forgot to do Wordle and to pop in here!
Coincidentally, @Busy-Lizzie, I had been talking to my OH about changing the curtains in the living room. I love the ones we have but they need to come down for cleaning and I would like something with an interlining for winter. We bought them from the old fashioned store in town last time and will pop in there again to look through their books. They have people who make them up for you. I prefer the rufflette tape too. Our curtain rails are metal and I use metal curtain hooks too as I love the sound they make when I draw them!
Not much to report here. OH asked what I'd like for Christmas. I've had nice pots for the garden and not really room for any more. I've had posh secateurs...
What is everyone else putting on their Christmas list?
Well, we're back from OH's checkup and the farm shop ... they pronounced him very fit and healthy and not imminently in danger of falling off his perch and it seems we have a healthy well-balanced diet.
I've done my C*****mas Order at the farm butcher ... a 2.5kg piece of rolled Red Poll beef rib, a large chicken, some chipolatas, back bacon and streaky. I've got some Cumberland sausages to make sausage rolls, I'll get some nice smoked salmon from W'rose, OH's mum is bringing a piece of ham and we'll have a fish pie on Christmas Eve ... so I think that'll see us through for several days.
They're not open again until 3 Jan so they can all have a good rest and enjoy themselves. Seems fair to me. There'll be plenty of leftovers for us, and there's always some stuff in the freezer to get by on. I might pop a pheasant in there to do just the two of us for New Year.
I bought our first pheasant of the season today, to potroast on Sunday ... I'll roast onions, parsnips and russett apples to go with it, and bought some lovely purple sprouting broccoli so that's all very autumnal. The carcass will make stock for a veg soup later in the week ... 😋
At 11 o'clock the butcher called out the time, and everyone, staff and customers stood in silence for two minutes.

£3.85 dressed and ready for the oven (or slow cooker).
Coo send one over here, the only place within reasonable distance to get one would be W'rose . I've just checked and our local one doesn't seem to have any.
I've managed a read over the week but been to busy to type responses. Glad to see that in the main you are all well, or there or thereabouts.
Paris was super, the concert was everything and more that I expected, really, really enjoyed it.
On a bit of a downer today though, I have cut ties with Charlie's dad - again. I have tried so hard to maintain a friendship and try and build a very broken relationship, but it is impossible, he just wants to control everything I do. Slowly, slowly I have noticed he has become more aggressive in his manner, disparaging towards me and my ideas, rude, surly, short tempered and all the rest of the nonsense that drove us apart 6 years ago. After Covid he promised if we tried again he would behave, but I suppose a leopard can't change it's spots. I had been very cautious and reluctant about the idea and certainly maintained my financial independence, kept my own home and virtually all my possessions there. Maybe it is my fault because I wouldn't show any commitment to the idea, doesn't really matter whose fault, it hasn't worked and all too stressful. Just sad to feel that I am back on my own again and can't seem to find myself a decent person to share my life with. Thank goodness for Charlie. Anyway, back to work, Fish & Chip night tonight and a Unicorn Birthday Cake for tomorrow morning to decorate. No time for moping around. Good to vent on here though.
Good day to everyone, weather here is showing a very promising week-end.
