Thank you to everyone for the advice. It has all been taken onboard.
I have now got the wiring done and in - not such an easy thing on a granite rubble wall. I have relented and taken my spacing to 3 mtrs, between climbing roses. TBH I am now considering only planting three, rather than four, because of the space required (as in MAC - ZD - MAC). and using the other ZD elsewhere. The full run of wire is 12 mtrs. Or would advice be to go ZD - MAC - ZD? Thanks @Marlorena & @Nollie.
As to wire spacing I have gone with @Mr. Vine Eye re the 30cm spacing and I have done that from the top down, with the lower wire higher than recommended (by 10cm) as like @Nollie, I too have planted climbers and never really used the lower wire if it is too low. Also as there will be a lot of plants in front in the border, I want to lift the roses up from the soil to allow better air circulation.
3 mtrs is good. If mine I think I'd go with the ZD - MAC - ZD combination, if I had room for the other MAC somewhere else.. it's a fun project you got there Peter..
@PeterAberdeen I concur with Marlorena, much better spacing and also ZD - MAC - ZD. if it looks a bit bare initially, you can always interplant along the wall with extra perennials until the roses fill out.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Just 5 weeks until Spring, Mar. 1st... won't be long..
Meanwhile, here's 'Lucky'.. I've become fond of this pink/mauve.. lilac? Floribunda, which flowers all the time. Tends to keep its leaves well into winter..
You have made great progress @PeterAberdeen, I think we are all enjoying your project. I imagine the heavy work keeps you warm but fiddly wiring without gloves is a challenge, I was chilled just being out for a couple of hours in today's damp cold, but I'm a softie southerner.
Talking of roses keeping leaves this is my before pic of Strawberry Hill that I've just pruned, defoliated and straightened and stabilised the trellis. I forgot the after photo and now I've taken my layers off and am enjoying the woodburner fire I won't be going back out. Only Malvern Hills and Blush Noisette still to prune, 2 more with plenty of leaves still.

Left couple of canes on Evelyn. I will try to root cuttings. It felt like roses haven't grown much, at least canes hadn't thicken much.
