Thanks for sharing your experience with GS @Nollie - it’s such a beautiful rose! It’s also good to know it can withstand hot and dry climate. My front garden is a complete sun trap, not many flowers strive there. I’m very tempted to give GS a go…
Nollie .. that 'Guy Savoy' is rather taking isn't it... and your 'Marie Pavie' is just superb, I think the ideal rose for a pot, particularly those with an urn shape, despite lacking the sumptuous beauty of more glamorous roses.. It also starts to bloom very early here after mild winters, I had it in flower on April 12th one year..
Hot and humid is my more usual pattern Oliya, but GS can take either humid or very dry like this past summer was. It’s pretty tough and undemanding.
I agree, Marlorena, the understated blooms can give as much pleasure at the big, opulent ones and often for a longer season. I still have the odd bloom on my MP despite the foliage finally shutting down.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Has anyone without a house number tried to order from TCL? I'm finally succumbing to the lure of roses... still need to finish digging some more beds, but I thought I could pot the ones I planned to order, if the beds weren't ready. However, our house has a name but not a number, and TCL's order form insists on a house number. I contacted them a few days ago but haven't received a reply as yet. Hope they don't sell out of Munstead Wood...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Liriodendron. I just received my email that my roses are despatched from TCL and came on here to show my christmas loot. Kaffe Fasset was not available but with the order really just for Love Song and Purple Lodge any others are just for curiosity's sake. I actually don't have a house number either so in these situations put 00 where the number should go and the house name in Company Name if there is no space elsewhere. I can't remember exactly what TCL's form looks like but I'm on my 3rd order, so it works fine.
She is looking so gorgeous Nollie, impressed you could trim her, my son's pup is such a wriggler it takes the pro trimmer and son or daughter in law a couple of hours I think. Certainly seems stressful
@WhereAreMySecateurs ive got koko loko, im not impressed so far, had one flower off it this year! Lanky, blackspotted. Its by my big climbers so might be a bit of competition, so i will try extra feed etc this year, but I suspect its a slow burner.
One flower... all season?! Did I read that right?! There are slow starters but that seems really extreme. Hope it bucks up its ideas next year for you. And thanks for the feedback! I am in dither mode so probably won't order anything till Jan, but tbh I'd rather get a lovely bloom machine like Nollie's MP there.(Though Luton =/= Catalonia and I mustn't expect the same results.)
Sophie Rochas arrived... not huge but it does look healthy. Pleased to get it! And glad a non-Royal Mail courier was used.

I gave her her first clip today, so she has gone from this:
