I have been enjoying all standard photos and telling myself not to get any as there is absolutely no space.
That's not the spirit at all.
I really, really like the Belle de Jour (but does this name sound stupid to native French speakers?) my friend offloaded onto me. Looks as healthy as my other Delbard, Rose des Cisterciens, and it definitely hasn't been sprayed either. Impressed.
My standard has been in a 4ft square raised bed ( four bricks tall) for five years, and I never thought about protecting it from the cold, didn't even think of it. In that time the temperature has gone down to -8 one winter, and regularly in the minus range, and you have seen pictures of how it fairs, so not all need protecting, maybe just those in pots.
My OH doesn't want me to plant any roses in my garden as it is filled with fruit trees. I have almost run out of space for my pots. Next stop is parking space in the front if I buy any more bareroots or look for another property with a big garden and a smaller home
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth

Ah, you are right; the advice is probably because many people do keep standards in pots and they probably are a bit more vulnerable in that account. Mine is in the ground, so I won't overstress about it!
You could always call it by it’s proper French name instead of the invented English one, WAMS, Château de Cheverny is a bit grander. That friend of yours is worth her weight in gold(en roses) ☀️
Oh and earlier photos were of course of Lady Hillingdon, not Hamilton. Damn auto correct.
This looks like my last bloom on Delbard’s Souvenir de Marcel Proust. Most of the foliage has suddenly gone over and dropped:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Chateau de Cheverny is a great name! And yes, my friend is a gem.
Do you who have Rachel / Auguste Luise think this could be her? I wasn't sure and Eastcroft aren't sure if they sent me the right one. We agreed to wait and see the next flower, but this was in August and I don't think it's going to bloom again this year. Could this just be heatwave weirdness?
Just been wrestling with huge wavy Wollerton Old Hall canes. Such a vigorous giant rose but the canes are very amenable to any amount of bending into position. The casualties from the unwanted canes
Some roses I haven't mentioned in a while; Carminia, Desdemona and Scarborough Fair
@Eustace thank you. How big the blooms are compared to other DA? Do they have tightly packed petals too? Sorry for asking many questions. If you have any pictures please share.
@Nollie and @p@pitter-patter I am adding couple of standards next year from TCL or Lensroses. Thank you for the beautiful pictures and inspiration.
I have managed to step out as it looks warmer outside. The roses are covered in weeds. Would anyone attempt to remove now?

@WhereAreMySecateurs, I need your friend and neighbor

if I would add a climber I’m currently drawn to this https://www.rosenhof-schultheis.de/Rosen/Kletterrosen/Rambler/Rosa/artikel_89_Rosendorf_Steinfurth04.html
It is clear I like ramblers 😬😉
