  • @Perki - My newly planted Lady Emma Hamilton had severe dieback and went from 6 canes down to two. Certainly failed to thrive in the first year and I was worried that I might lose the whole plant. They sent me a replacement. The original one is doing ok now.

    So I’ve got two.

    @Perki, I believe Fire was having an operation in hospital if I remember rightly, I do hope she's okay.
    I hope she is ok and just busy.

    Oh I didn’t know that @Lizzie27, I was worried we hadn’t heard from her either, I tagged her upthread recently and got no response. If you are reading this Fire, all good wishes for a speedy recovery.

    @Marlorena ive realised ive got the wrong name! I dont mean night owl oops! (Blame this cold/ flu ;)) its the one i got wrongly labelled ascot, ive got it in a pot, which it fits in, lovely spicy scent, floribunda, loads of flowers. We correctly ID'd it earlier in the year, you helped, and ive muddled the name... now cant remember what it was!
    This one;

    Its not midsummer nights dream, I got that later summer this year and is still in its pot. Its lovely!

    From a Garden centre with a big selection, so must be reasonably common... hmm googling im thinking was it Diamond eyes??

    I do actually have night owl, got it bare root last year, but its not done very well, barely grown, hasnt flowered because snotty tissue (waltz) time has blocked it, but as thats coming out, hopefully itll do better next year and I might move it to the opposite side of the obelisk. It got very dry in that heatwave but its survived.

    I am just catching up with the thread, I haven't looked in for soooo.... long! Beautiful roses everyone.
    @Nollie I see you are having trouble locating Falstaff? He is in my garden and stands up well to rain/wind/ hot sun etc. If you would like me to take some cuttings for you and send them down for you to try and establish please let me know. Would semi-hardwood be best next year? Just give me a nudge.

    @floralies, oh that’s extremely kind, thank you! I may well take you up on that, but yes next year semi-hard probably better. I actually think I managed to add a Falstaff to my TCL order, since they mysteriously got it back in stock, along with quite a few other discontinued Austins but Vic never responded to my email asking for it to be added. It’s a busy time so, I shall wait and see what’s in the box, now on it’s way..

    Quite the coincidence actually, see next…

    ****DISCONTINUED AUSTINS ALERT****

    TCL have suddenly got the following back in stock, no idea how but grab them now if you want them! You can put in a quick order then take your time adding to it if you want by emailing them afterwards. There may be more available I just picked up on these ones and did a dummy basket just to check they really were available:
