I treated myself to some niwaki secateurs when they were discounted on crocus, and I got the crean mate and camellia oil to keep them spiffy!
@zugenie I’m addicted to using crean mate and camellia oil on all my gardening tools! Great for getting rid of dark stains from sap that detergent/water can’t budge

Nothing for me as yet... which is just as well I think..
@Athelas .. thanks.. your crocus are well ahead of mine, nothing out here as yet..
@BlueBirder I've just noticed your post about a thin shoot... that appears to be a little own root sucker, which is nice, you can pot that up and it may grow for you into another plant.. if you need another one of course..
@Marlorena thanks for the reply, I did some googling and suspected as much. How likely is it to grow true? I found a couple of hips on the soil so wonder if it's a seedling.
Either way potted 12 of them up into sweet pea trainers to give them root space and will see whether they grow. Maybe have some surplus plants on my hands soon - my garden is tiny...
Have I been unobservant or have you name changed today @WAMS? This is much easier, thanks.
You are more observant than me! I tried to name change recently, a week or two ago I think, but it seems to have suddenly taken effect today. Forum update?
I was looking at this picture of Ferdinand Pichard from late summer and thinking, I remember that it smelt wonderful, but can't begin to remember how it smelt. Can other people remember scents when the thing being sniffed isn't in front of them?
@BlueBirder I don't think it's a seedling, at this time of year, but it could instead be a rootstock sucker too... depends if the graft union is above ground or buried a few inches, or if a stem got buried at planting time... show another photo when the leaves start to develop.. if it's true you should get a dark red flower in June..
I think one of these is enough for a small garden though..

No email from DA for me too.
