There are a few bare roots I have been inspired by on this thread such as @Nollie Julia C and all these places below sell them. So anybody with any experience buying from any of the following, I would love to hear your experience with them:
*meant to say there are a few roses I have been inspired by on this thread that I would like to get as bare roots. Didn’t mean to say I was inspired by bare roots Although some peoples’ bare roots did look healthy!
I think I have bought from all of those @Alfie_ , all fine I recall. Peter Beale has great customer service if something goes wrong. I rate Trevor White as best of all though. David Austin also good but very expensive so only sensible for their own roses not available elsewhere.
@Alfie_ did you see the excellent quality (and value!) bare roots from RV Roger posted by WhereAreMySecateurs earlier? Usually better to stick to a specialist rose nursery like them rather than a generic nursery. I’ve found Beales to be variable in quality, had some puny specimens from them but others have had much better luck.
I have been looking at very fragrant hybrid tea roses too and came across Twice in a Blue Moon which is an improvement (health and vigour) on Blue Moon. The former seems to be a highly rate rose. Does anybody have this rose that could comment on what it is like? Thanks
Hi all, lovely seeing all the photos of roses still in bloom. I’ve got a small sprinkling of them from Kew Gardens and Lady of Shalott is trying to open one up. The rest of them have largely shut down.
Haven't had much to report or chance to get in the garden (or do anything really!) the last few weeks - with the baby. But I’ve started to think about some jobs that need doing.
Im planning to move The Ancient Mariner - fingers crossed it goes better than my last attempt at moving a rose, poor Vanessa Bell - it’s not doing that well in this spot, and I think there’s too many roses in this small bed anyway.
I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of a plant that could go in its place. Something tallish but not too wide, either evergreen or herbaceous but leaving something structural like stems/seed heads through winter as otherwise it’s a big bare patch, can cope with shade.
Might be lack of sleep but I’m struggling to think of ideas!
Temporarily, I think I’ll transplant some of the self seeded foxgloves there.

Styles Roses also has it, a favourite of some on here.
