.. so many good roses, and that Icicle !..   I've had Souvenir de Mme. August Charles from your list, lovely compact Bourbon, I remember the smallish blooms weathered quite well here.. hope it does well for you..
Me too, thank you.  TW said it was ok for a shady spot so I'm going to dig out a sweet patio rose I have, Our Dreams, which sadly seems to have ran out of steam.  I'll pot it for this year and let the ground recover.

I meant to say after reading the info a few pages back about Midnight Blue frazzling quickly and unattractively.  I have one from last bare root season that did really badly this year.  I assumed it was the weather so decided to roll its pot into a partially shaded area to see if it would improve next year.

I don't know if this will link the particular post, but @pitter-patter posted some heart-stopping pictures of Peach Melba here.

Is it the same rose? She writes she has had it a couple of years

@Oliya, There is no point in resisting, you just know you need more roses 😆

Lovely photos of SdSA.I’m a fan too and have have a replacement on order for my previous one that was eaten by a fig tree. Hopefully Mk. II will do better since I’ve brutally chopped back the invading fig and installed a better root barrier.

I would give your Mary Delany a free pass, many new roses suffered in the unexpectedly hot summer and hopefully she will improve next year.

  • I’m not judging any of mine too harshly this year as it was extreme this summer. Some did very well considering.

Was hoping to get out and take some frosty pics but I’ve been really unwell the last few days. Typically picked something up from school on the last day of term. Not surprised as there were so many children and staff off in the last week with various things.

Its annoying! I could see a lovely shot of frost coated Lady of Shalott buds but just couldn’t take it. Think that’s the end of frost here too.

My Mary Delaney was a slow starter as well. It’s such a beautiful rose though so I suppose worth the wait!
  • Thanks @marlorena it looks like a sweet pink.  If I go along with my current plans it will go between Portland and Pergolese which I think might be nice in a sugary kind of way.

I like that SdsA @Oliya, flowers make a great contrast with the leaves.

Hope you feel better soon @Mr. Vine Eye, look forward to seeing what you produce with the new lens.  Spiders and mini-bugs are fine with me :)

I’ve read so many good things about Mary D, that’s why I’ve got it. I didn’t know where to put it so it was in the pot. I now found a place in the ground for it and hopefully it’ll do better next season.
