It’s incredible the sheer number and diversity of roses we have between us and also how differently they do in our particular conditions, which, along with personal taste, affects how we rate them. 🌸 Gearing up for the pink avalanche!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Too many pinks to list: best is the Gertrude Jekyll, a photo of which appears on the left. Then my namesake, Eustacia Vye. I find Walferdange interesting. Queen of Sweden,
Olivia Rose Austin Blush noisette, English Miss, Our Beth, The Wren, Grandiflora Queen Elizabeth. Super Dorothy I should label my photos and then I won't be this confused as to which is which 😜
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
Perennial Blue. Later in the summer added Super Excelsa which is too bright pink for my camera to handle, and which bloomed a lot more. P.Blue: S.Excelsa:
Albrighton Rambler sometimes!
Adam Messerich, distinctive Grandad-type scent.
PAoK. Couldn't get much scent but there are very pungent odours nearby. Still giving a couple of blooms in the first week of December. Rachel. The heatwave blooms were so distorted, an ugly orange boxy shape, that it wasn't clear it was her. But by autumn, she was starting to look frilly and charming. Not many blooms, though.
Eustacia Vye. Looking at these, I am glad she is so beautiful when in bloom, though she seldom was for me. Others like the Gardener Ben fella say she blooms continuously, though.
Lavender Lassie
Rose des Cisterciens and Heritage... both in pretty much continuous bloom till late autumn.
Eyes for You, the first rose to bloom last year even though it was a chlorotic mess for several months in its new location (poor rose... not its fault). I sort of disliked it even when it improved, though. Tess of the d'Urbervilles. At the reddish side of pink but still definitely pink!
Gertrude. Beautiful scent, very welcome addition to my not always fragrant neighbourhood. Deelish... like this one a lot. Chandos Beauty... to me the absolute best fragrance. Armada... hasn't grown a lot so far, probably as it was small specimen to start with. But the blooms are really cute. Tried to buy another this season (to grow elsewhere and perhaps replace this if it doesn't pick up) but they don't have enough good ones to send out apparently.
Queen Elizabeth, the un-dig-up-able (because it's been there since the 60s and I am feeble.)
Harlow Carr is adorable and Wolferdange fabulous! Eustace if I didn't upload these to a Facebook album all labelled at the time, I wouldn't have a hope of identifying half of them.😬 Much of my camera roll I have no idea about.
What a lovely selection of roses for the last few pages especially. Made me look through my photos and find that no one seems to have the ones I have in my garden. I have yellow, orange and pink ones - not all on the same plant!
Golden Anniversary
Wildfire
Whisky Mac
Whiter shade of Pale
Golden Anniversary and Whiter Shade of Pale both have a beautiful scent.
Walferdange is really pretty @Eustace, and I’m still hankering after a Lavender Lassie @WAMS. I didn’t like Eyes for You and hated the scent, which was like rotting tropical fruit in my summer heat. @daisym I love Whisky Mac, stunning colour!
A few more pinks morphing into purples..

Wonderful pics of all the pinks and yellows.. some we don't hear about much, it's always good to see the less well known..
