I popped into the big box nursery yesterday and saw a Bolero (MEIdelweis) floribunda rose. It had a wonderful scent. Does anyone have experience with this one? The only reference I could find on the forum was regret at it being unavailable for purchase, but nothing on its preferences, shade tolerance, balling in rain, etc.

It was a little more than I like to spend on a plant (I think it was $27), but I think it may be worth the trial.

Have you tried looking on Houzz, @SYinUSA? I just googled and there seem to be a fair few photos of it on there, and people raving about the fragrance.

It's not sold here, only in USA and Japan as far as I know..

For further information you might like to read these comments on HMF, as most are from the U.S.
We don't have any experience with this rose in UK..

Could anyone please recommend an alternative to Buxom Beauty? As similar as possible but not exactly that rose… if that makes sense 😆

@Marlorena they are gorgeous! My mum has BB so I like to get something a little different. A family of rose addicts 🤣

Quite a few of us would snap up Bolero if it was sold in Europe @SYinUSA, it’s meant to be fab so I would go for it if I were you. It’s a bone of contention that European breeders like Meilland and Kordes don’t release some of their roses on their own continent, especially for me since many are bred to do well in warmer climates.

Most of the commentary I could find (HMF and Houzz and DavesGarden) were in drier and cooler conditions than mine. The fact that it's the same breeders that make this as the unflappable Knockout roses gives me hope, so I think I'll give it a go!

@Nollie, that’s a lovely rose too. I think for where I’m planning to put it, it would be better if it was a hybrid tea but I’m not rigidly set on it.
Thank you both for those lovely suggestions.
