Roses.it still list all five of those WAMS, and do ship to the UK, or at least they did last year. All currently out of stock but they ship potted roses only so worth looking in again next year to see if they’ve got new stock. Some other interesting discontinued Ex-DAs too.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Fragrance of Jude is amazing and fragrance of VB ??? I think they don't understand why people like those discontinued roses. All three Thomas a Becket, lady of shallots and VB are good roses but they have no match to the fragrance of the discontinued ones.
Soo much light, this tree was at the south west point of the garden so afternoon and evenings cast half the garden in shade. There is a whole load of opportunity but the roots are going to frustrate my ideal plans.
Your garden is still looking really smart and well put together @Athelas. I like the planting mix.
Wow, sorry about your tree @Tack, look forward to seeing your plans with the space.
I am shocked and delighted at the brutal cull lists above! I am being somewhat more timid, I know gardeners say every year is a weird year but I think this year was special and I want to give some roses another chance.
Cull/ed:
Evelyn Fison - feeling twitchy about getting rid of this one, it's a nice red but so difficult to please
Warm Welcome - this has been a good rose but somehow it always bored me. I'm updating the top end of the garden and it has lost its arbour support so already chopped down. I've reduced the arbour to a bench and three handy trellis pieces as it was still surprising sturdy for saying I put it together and 10 years ago.
Countess of Wessex - this culled itself over the course of 18 months
Moving to more suitable locations:
Autumn Delight - to a dank spot in the shade border
Crown Princess Margareta - this is a long and stiff limbed thorny character but beautifully scented. Think it is tall enough to get on ok on the shady fence if I can move it alright.
Chateau de Munsbach - colour matching issues La Villa Cotta - as above Munstead Wood - as above
Belle de Jour - a tidy and healthy character with indefinable colouring. Better suited to a multi-colour path edge.
Sunny Day (Our Rose, Trevor White) - this is a nice but slow-grow yellow, giving it a more prominent spot
Reine des Violettes - as part of a project/area replant
Favourite New Roses...
Rose de Rescht Draga The Bishop Nuits de Young
...and technically good but not heart-warming:
Desdemona Julia Child
Here is a reliable late rose companion, New England Aster Connie. Carder bees always on this plant whereas they ignore the ubiquitous Monch next to it. I like the part open flowers, it makes me think of those ocean plants/animals that grab at food floating past. A lone Night Owl in the background for rose interest. Red leaves on left belong to Westerland not NO.

I wish I had a bit more time for posting.
The suggested alternatives are so out there, aren't they, @newbie77!
