  • Pink Floyd are my very favourite band. I would have loved to have seen them live. The Groundhogs were another group that I loved and managed to see live, at the Liverpool Stadium.
Now Neil Young, Bryan Ferry have sated my appetite for live music .

DSotM was on television the other day. Don't know which channel. It was a recording of a live concert and they looked quite old so it must've been fairly recent
    In London. Keen but lazy.

@janetfoss they left the stage without playing comfortably numb so I shouted for them to get back on the stage..... Not sure if they heard me but the encore was comfortably numb, wish you were here and brain damage so I was happy! 👍

It was truly incredible @janetfoss... I actually got my Dad into them as even though it was his era he hadn't discovered them so I took him with me! Along with the singer of our local blues band who was incredible cool.... Isn't that right @Dovefromabove 😀
  • He was incredibly cool indeed @WonkyWomble, and a very special friend. 😎

I watch that on YouTube, (Comfortably Numb) the one where they're in Pompeii?
I read something somewhere about Mark Knopfler wishing he could hold a guitar like David Gilmour, 'like a rock star', as he felt he himself looked like a plumber! I thought that was so funny.

ETA I'm not a lifelong fan of rock groups like so many of you. I was a Mike Oldfield fan for some years though. But one evening I googled the ten best guitar solos and found the 'Tunnel of Love' clip I posted on here and 'Comfortably Numb' at Pompeii that way. Didn't like the others! I stick with the versions I like best and enjoy these two. But I can appreciate everyone's passion for the era.
  • I think Mark Knopfler needed a slightly more cuddly tum to rest that guitar against, Gilmour style … isn’t that so @WonkyWomble? 😉
