I was totally in lust with her, @coccinella.

The National are a great band, I regularly listen to all their albums.

Yes @punkdoc, I am going through YouTube. Something to talk about with my son when he comes for Christmas. We have music quizzes, guess the year and so on, all music related. I think this year I have an ace in my sleeve i.e. this thread 😉.
    Safe trip to Scotland.

The 'single' from Steven Wilson's monumental concept album 'Hand Cannot Erase'. Based on the life of Joyce Carol Vincent, an attractive, intelligent, outgoing young woman who died in her London flat, and her body went undiscovered for three years. She had friends, she had family, yet for reasons unknown even to them, no one missed her or bothered to check up on her!

Keep listening - there is eventually a chorus & it's rather nice.

Thank you @LunarSea. How infinitely sad, but these things happen. Months ago I had decided to throw away some "younger stuff" and I came across a bunch of letters. At first I didn't even recognise the name and thought that they must belong to someone else. Then I started reading, and remembered. The last letters were about this wonderful woman he had met and was going to marry (photo included). Then silence, did I reply to his last letter? Did he stop writing? For sure I never asked why and I do not remember at all. This was 1987. I hope he is ok. Life eh?

    Life eh?

Yeah! Funny, we were having a similar conversation with a lady we met & shared a table with in a local cafe today. She was reminiscing about earlier love/life dilemmas. A total stranger but turns out we had worked for the same company, and in the same department, earlier in our working lives.

RIP Manuel Göttsching, who died this week. He went under the name of Ashra and I'll never forget hearing this track for the first time on Alan Freeman's Saturday afternoon show when I was just 17.
