Wow, a few replies in and apparently it’s due to brexit/ Boris and is leading to the end of the Empire! Really, is that the cause of the strikes? Have you looked around at other countries and their economies and what is going on, The problems covid delivered to these economies, magnified by a war in Ukraine? Have you looked at the recent election in Sweden and the swing to the right there? There was a cost of living march this weekend in Ireland! Air traffic strikes in France etc. The problems are not unique to the UK but I guess it easier to blame brexit/Boris, not the fact the cost of living is rocketing world wide and workers want more money to cope.
We are in the late stages of a capitalist economy that has lasted decades and seen the wealth flow upwards into the hands of a small minority. That small minority is doing all it can to influence and bribe the lawmakers in order to retain their place and to be able to continue to exploit the world's resources for their own ends. That includes people and finally the people are beginning to see just how much they have been exploited - to the point where, despite working long hours, are not paid enough to live in the consumerist society the small minority has forced on us. All they have is the power to withdraw their labour. Short of a mass uprising - impossible under the various public order laws that mean you can't even hold up a blank piece of paper without being arrested - all we have is strikes and moaning on social media. Our govt. is absolutely blatant in its support for the wealthiest and is doing all it can to divert even more wealth their way whilst pretending to help us out by throwing a few scraps that will keep us quiet for a bit.

The whole world is dealing with the outcomes of Covid and Ukraine but we have Brexit on top. Show me the Brexit benefits so far and I'll listen to your arguments but if you don't think Brexit is causing a large part of the problem then you're being naive in my opinion.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
@wild edges. not sure what ‘problem’ you are referring to. How is Brexit relevant to a train strike? There is plenty of Brexit discussion on other threads and this was titled ‘strikes’ and referred to postal/trains etc and I said I don’t see the relevance of Brexit in this (and listening to the unions arguments for better wages I don’t recall them saying it’s because of Brexit). I do not believe I am being naive and understand the issues Brexit is having but as I said I am not sure of the relevance in this topic and I feel there are other factors that are the reason in this instance. You obviously feel people are striking partly due to Brexit, I don’t but happy to be educated as to why the strikes are Brexit related.
The reason I started this thread is because I watched on YouTube a speech by the 2nd in charge of the RMT saying how workers needed to bring down the rich and powerful, how he wanted more council housing and quiet a few other things but he never said anything about the people who bought the council houses giving them back.
Dove I am not sure where that pricing is from and does not seem to include various price caps by country/tax rates/ type of electricity (note Scandinavia is cheap due to its reliance on hydro) etc so it’s hard to get a direct comparison. here is the latest prices that differ somewhat to above. https://euenergy.live/

Nobody said it was entirely down to Brexit or Bojo.
As you point out, there are many factors at play, brexit and bojo amongst them
