Morning all, I'm quite enjoying the cooler weather after Turkey but it definitely wouldn't suit @Hostafan1 Still feeling a bit tired but getting back into my stride now. Went to visit Secondborn and the boys yesterday. Lots of cuddles, I really missed them. I'm going to Firstborn's tomorrow. Garden survived well, thanks to Bestie, while I was away but I need to get out there and do some tidying, not sure it will be today though. Have a good day everyone.
Just had a knock on the door from M., a man my OH and I have become acquainted with as we walk about town - he does all the shopping as his wife appears to be agoraphobic and recently had a psychotic episode which saw her taken to a secure unit in Attleborough - a bit of a way away from here. M. was given a lift there the other day with some bits and pieces for her but was told she said she doesn't know anyone called M. and lives alone. They are doing scans and such. But - speaking of families - he has just told me that just after his wife was taken away he called his brother in York to see if he could stay with them for a few days. He was told no - they have their own lives to lead. He must have felt so alone. I'm doing what I can to connect him with where he might get help, but all he really wants is some kind of self-help group he can be with. There might be something that could help - I'm about to make enquiries.
Afternoon all, a decidedly chilly morning today with the heating tripping in. Lovely to have a warm bathroom first thing though. It soon became warm and sunny, just right for a drive in the countryside to meet up for lunch with our car club friends. Back home relaxing now with a cuppa and feeling pleased I won't have to cook dinner tonight, we'll have a snack later on. The washing dried beautifully too so I might even do some ironing later and I ought to water the pots as it last rained here a few days ago.
That's a shame about M @didyw, I'm really thankfull we have a such a close knit family, I know many don't have that advantage. Are there any 'Mens Sheds' groups in your area that could help him? Our local consortium of churches issue a regular newsletter which contains details of groups like that.
I hate the day after coming back from holiday and always feel so unsettled but then I'm a bit strange in that I don't really enjoy holidays much anyway. Probably stems from camping holidays (usually wet and cold ones) in remote Scottish areas when I was a child.
Good evening, definitely a chilly breeze today. Perfect for digging up the maincrop spuds. Only lifted one row so far and filled a large sack, one more row to go. I am pleasantly surprised at how big they are, and not much slug damage either. If the second row is as good we will be well catered for all winter.
I hope you had an enjoyable Birthday @Busy-Lizzie.
Lovely sunny Autumn day here. Bought some Daffodil bulbs and a new bird feeder today. I might put the ‘mixed’ Daffs in the front lawn. Well lawn is a strong word - it’s a small patch of grass and weeds (or wild flowers as we call them now) with loads of primroses in Spring. I have also bought a few named Daffs, a multiheaded called ‘Baby Moon’ and a Poeticus called recurvus, which will probably go in pots.
You're ahead of me @AuntyRach, I haven't yet thought of which bulbs to get. Think I've got enough daffs now so might just get some iris reticulata which I love. They do better apparently if bought fresh each year and I've got some vouchers from Hilliers to use up.
How's work lately - presumably still busy? Have many staff asked to have Monday off to watch the funeral? I read somewhere that some hospitals were installing big TVs for patients and staff to watch.
Sounds like you had a lovely day with Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel and the garden party sounds good too. We've rather missed out on garden visits these last few months because of OH's hip problem but his six weeks is up next week and he's gradually getting more mobile.

25C here already. Perfect.
Hugs to you @Pat E

It was a huge comfort to me that Hubby never forgot who I was, even though he'd forgotten everyone else.

Happy (belated) birthday @Busy-Lizzie.
Happy holidays @Hostafan1.
Spent a lovely day with Charlie, lunch out, shopping and then a garden party, lots of hugs. Watching The Hobbit now.
Counting the days now until my holiday.
Good evening to all.
