Afternoon all, had a busy day so first chance to post. Happy Birthday @Busy-Lizzie, that dessert sounded fantastic, however did they do it? Enjoy your meet-up with Dove. It seems a long time ago since our very enjoyable meeting with her back in June. I've only had one holiday on my own and as Hosta says, it takes a bit of getting used to but the bliss of being able to do precisely what you want to and when is not to be sneezed at. Talking of holidays, my hairdresser was all of a dither today, she's met a new fella on hers - after 13 years on her own. Good for her, I was all agog for the gossip! We were laughing at some of her antics when the next customer stumbled in, crying, dazed and streaming blood - she'd fallen flat on her face on the pavement and come a real cropper. I immediately went into nursing mode, sat her down, gave her water and a big hug whilst my hairdresser rushed to get a cold wet compress to stem the blood. When she'd calmed down, I gave her some paracetamol which I usually carry with me, I reckon she was going to have a hell of a headache if not two black eyes. I offered to drive her home but she was able to ring her husband to collect her. I then had to rush back to the carpark before I was timed out. Quite a hectic afternoon.
Not so bad as @Yviestevie's though by all accounts. Takes the shine off the holiday a bit.
Quick question for the cooks please. The handle on my Salter frypan has just broken off, looks like the rivets have completely rusted through so I need a new one the same size. Do I measure the diameter across the bottom of the pan or across the top please?
Really quite cross as it's not that old but I can't remember where I bought it.
@didyw 👍 😂 … I suspect he’s using all his mental and physical resources lying on a lounger soaking up the sun … he puts a lot of effort into that sort of thing you know 🤣 😉
You know me well. XXX
Today it peaked at 33C I walked to Lidl, about 20 mins. bought lots of water, UHT milk and lemonade. I was struggling up the hill to try to find a taxi and a nice Arabic man stopped and gave me a lift back to my hotel. He refused point blank to accept any money from me. Happy Birthday, BusyLizzie! Glad you are having some hot weather, Hostafan. Enjoy! Unusual day here. Breakfast at the donkey sanctuary, then a wonderful walk round their fields. Lovely weather, not too hot, very peaceful and quiet. OH had been getting himself all worried about a blood test, only routine, but first one since before lockdown. Results came back as normal, we were both very relieved. Spent so long strolling around that it was lunchtime! Stayed on and had a really delicious Caesar salad with chicken and bacon. Excellent. Got home to a phone-call from a very dear friend, so all in all, a lovely day, and I don’t care that I didn’t get any of the planned jobs done!
it’s my late daughter’s son’s birthday today as well. He turns 18. My other daughter is annoyed to be informed that they have moved, so the card she posted on our behalf will probably be returned. 🤬🤬. We both contributed to a money gift which went into his fathers bank for him. My daughter has been thanked. 🙄. No wonder I can’t be bothered trying to keep up with them.
Morning folks.Happy birthday to Busy-Lizzie.well, autumn has autumned. Sunday, Monday here was 25c, Wednesday 19c, overnight. Big rush to move the citrus in last night,as it suddenly plummeted to 10c by 7pm, this morning it's 6.6c. Watched the forecast on TV,it said 10c, good job we didn't trust it. watch out Hosta,my hubby's late Father,in his 50s, went on holiday on his own, for the first time, met his second wife, got fleeced, and so did the kids when he suddenly died at 57. Woman was a gold digger. Her previous husband also died suddenly! Love to Pat... families eh!
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ A beautiful bright morning, its 8C but the weather app says it feels 6C because of the northerly wind, and for once the app is spot on … I think we’ll be having our coffee indoors when @Busy-Lizzie visits today … not quite the weather for sitting out on the terrace 😉

It's chilly for here Dove, and we have wind too but the weather station says 16°C!! Sunny day today. The wind will sweep the clouds out to sea!
Going to chop a kindling stack today. Getting ready for those winter nights!
Thank you everyone for my birthday greetings yesterday.
Looking forward to seeing @Dovefromabove today. Off to have a shower.
