Hello @Desi_in_London, good to here from you. Nice thing about this forum is that you can pop in without being obliged to say anything. I sometimes read threads in which people are being unpleasant but it doesn't usually bother me and I don't usually join in. Most people here are kind.
I'm now wearing a jumper too, morning and again in the evening. Heatwave is over but I wish it would rain at least once a week for the garden.
I think I'll give gardening a miss today as knee is painful. OH likes to pop out somewhere as he isn't very mobile and used to like long walks and visiting places. He's happy just to go to a local GC, several around here, which is fine by meÂ

Hope the knee eases @Busy-Lizzie ... aren't joints a flamin' problem grrr!
Isn't it funny ... sometimes you don't realise how poorly you've felt until you're more or less better ... my innards are still sore, but I've stopped shivering and feel so much brighter. I've done some h*wk, baked bread, washing's on the line and I've picked beans and tomatoes ... OH is at work today ... he's got more hours than usual 'cos the manager is at a meeting in London and the assistant manager is on her hols ... still, we'll be on our hols at the end of this month Now to make a coffee and prep the beans for the freezer ... Supper's going to be slices of pink grilled Hanger steak with salad and new potatoes. I feel the need for something 'clean and fresh' .

Morning all - thanks for setting up September for us @Dovefromabove. Verandah looking good @Pat E. I had to call the doctor's first thing. I was poised and called at a couple of minutes to 8 - still the out of hours message. Redialled immediately and was no. 11 in the queue! But I have been prescribed the antibiotics I need and OH will pick them up for me.  Back to bed though now as I only got a couple of hours sleep last night. 4am saw me making myself some crackers and cheese and a cup of camomile!
Evening all, a very pleasant day here, mainly spent pottering after my usual morning walk. Yesterday I drove OH to a garden nursery about 30 odd miles away just for an outing to cheer him up. Had a gorgeously huge slice of coffee and walnut cake and a cup of coffee, they are renowned for their cakes/huge breakfasts etc. The nursery is an independent and slightly cheaper than the chains, so worth a visit now and again. I bought three Blue Fescue's to plant in a row in my 3 rose bed. I miss the box hedging I used to have.
Hope your OH's GP's letter to his consultant will do the trick @Busy-Lizzie. My OH was amused to get a hospital appointment letter today asking him to attend on Saturday 27th August which he already had. Left hand and right hand methinks.
I loved his book 'The Bad Beekeepers Club (BBC). "How I stumbled into the curious world of bees - and became (perhaps)Â a better person. It was an absolute joy to read, very funny at times, and very perceptive.

Good evening, and happy September to you all. It was volunteer day today so no time to post before. I spent my time clipping Pittisporum, one is in a low dome shape (actually about a dozen plants but all treated as one) the other a tall stately shrub, clipped so people can view the garden beyond looking through it. They are such versatile plants.
Yes RIP Bill, I have said before but this is another reminder of how fortunate I was that TB introduced well man screening as Ihad no symptomsat all. My GP always said by this stage I would have (like Bill) been complaining of leg and back pain by which time it would have been too late to do much about it. I try to remember this when I am grumbling about some of the effects of the treatment but here I still am . Bill was 3 years younger than me.
I enjoyed the GC, they had a new delivery in. It's a small GC but they always seem to have everything. 24 pansies and violas, a liriope and a dwarf purple aster jumped into my trolley. They also had a big outdoor thermometer and some green jute twine that I wanted. I planted everything except the aster this afternoon. Knee managed but still aches.
While we were there OH had a call from his GP's secretary who had been chasing up the hospital. When we got home OH had an email inviting him to an appointment to see the surgeon at the NHS hospital in early October.
I have a couple of things to see to in France so I'm going back for 10 days on 22nd September. I will also be babysitting for Son 2 for a night while I'm there. My handyman says my house and garden are OK, he's gone there before work and done some watering.

That veranda looks smashing @Pat E
Glad you're feeling better @Dovefromabove and hope the antibiotics work quickly @didyw.
