toadflax and bushy salvias have bloomed constantly for me too, right through the season. Amazing plants. I pick off the linaria heads that have gone over and it will quickly rebloom. If you don’t want it to seed around, L. Peachy is sterile. A delicate apricot.

My baby lavenders I put in in Spring have done brilliantly too, despite everything!
    And spurge, sadly.. 🤨

I've got a pair of pots filled with Begonia Angelique, and another pair filled with Begonia Glowing Embers and Chocolate Cosmos (my "chocolate orange" pots!). Both have thrived with minimal care and are still looking pretty good.

My Gaura have been spectacular this year, seemed to love the heat and I didn't need to water them much. They've also self seeded all over the place which they've never done before.

  • Am I allowed another star plant?  It's an unusual one...  garlic chives.  Allium tuberosum.  Neat leaves which are great in salads (or just nibbled when you feel like a garlicky chivey moment), followed by very long lasting heads of scented white flowers.  I was weeding near to mine this afternoon, and the fragrance was delightful.  It seems immune to the downy mildew which affects the ordinary chives growing nearby.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Yes, my Gauras have been amazing too, really seem to cope well with the heat ... how many star plants are we allowed to have?

    Go for it! :D

I think next year is Gaura Year for me. I have just bought a few. I have also got some peachy-coloured salvia Greggii. My salvia haven't batted an eyelash at the dryness or heat.

I have a Gaura in a pot, planted last year, that has also flowered really well.  But three new ones, put in the border flowered for a bit then just turned brown.

Going to try Gaura as well next year. Sounds like they did well for a lot of people this summer. I've noticed they're everywhere in southwest France too, including in spots that don't look like they're actively watered..
