Surely choosing the name you did implies that you acknowledge, perhaps even rejoice in being cantankerous @VictorMeldrew … and self-knowledge is an admirable thing … if you’d wanted to present a more avuncular image you could’ve called yourself @TerryWogan. 😊

Maybe new posters like to have friendly exchange of views. To continue with the food metaphor, put the chip to one side to one side next to the spoon. @VictorMeldrew.
Why does that give us the right to speculate about his life any more than you would expect to pry into the life of your dentist or your postman?
Because he is a television presenter and in people's living rooms on a regular basis. People feel like they know him. Doesn't it go with the job to have the public and people who respect you are interested in your life? It is not necessarily prying; could be concern. Probably is concern by many of his fans, now that it's known family members are seriously ill.
Then @Dovefromabove said: (sorry I don't know how to do multiple quotes)
"Some people gave no understanding of the difference between ‘public’ and ‘private’.
Adam Frost is not in people’s living rooms on a regular basis. He is on a programme which is broadcast to their tv or internet device.
I thought we’d moved on since the days when the ignorant thought there were little people living in the box in the corner of their room 🤣 "
Yawn.... Yawn..... I was speaking figuratively of course with the comment about being in people's living room, but as usual your ridicule is boring. At first I thought you were joking but you have continued this theme in subsequent posts.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
But what I don’t understand is why some people seem to have different public/private boundaries for people on tv to the ones they have for the plumber in their home who is not on tv?
When is Adam Frost private and when public?
500 years ago, you would have learned that Adam frost is a part of the Body, the kingdom.
100 years ago, you would have been told that he is from a juridical aspect responsible for his acting as a private person outside his BBC jobs.
Today, if you walk today through a village with a friend, pass Adam Frost, and your friend asks you who this was, you most likely answer that this was Adam Frost, the BBC gardener.
We still think of people through their work/job. The more attention our job gets in public, the more we are a public person.
This inner sanctum nonsense is so dull. Most people on here have the capability for independent thought, inevitably sometimes views coincide, but just as often they don't.
Yes, I regard some people on here as friends, but I certainly don't always agree with them, and if I don't I say so.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
nothing changes, people were bickering about TV gardeners when I joined, a great many years ago. Get a life for goodness sake, it's not behind a screen it's out there in the world.

If Hosta gets £1 for every mention of cats, can I get £5 for every mention of "inner sanctum" problems?

I ♥ my garden.
