I totally agree none of it is our business, but as usual there has been huge speculation and considerable untruths spread about.
As I said earlier, his wife and one daughter have been very ill.
He has moved back to his previous house, which he rented out, when he moved to the big house.
He is an Essex boy, that is where the accent comes from.
How can you lie there and think of England
When you don't even know who's in the team

Yes there’s an Essex accent … but it’s overlaid with a layer from the Westcountry (he was in his early teens when he moved to Devon) and there’s a fair bit of S. Lincs/Rutland accent too … I think he has one of those ears that picks up accents very quickly.

The man is doing a job. He works on a gardening programme. Why does that give us the right to speculate about his life any more than you would expect to pry into the life of your dentist or your postman?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

My postman and dentist don't have their house and garden on TV, far as I know. I don't pry, my border collie used to bark at the postman,so I let her out to say hello. He told me he has 5 loves gardening ,rural house and a couple of acres. I know quite a bit about my dentist as well! It's not nosyness,it's making conversation

Because he is a television presenter and in people's living rooms on a regular basis. People feel like they know him.  Doesn't it go with the job to have the public and people who respect you are interested in your life?  It is not necessarily prying; could be concern.  Probably is concern by many of his fans, now that it's known family members are seriously ill.

Some people gave no understanding of the difference between ‘public’ and ‘private’.

Adam Frost is not in people’s living rooms on a regular basis. He is on a programme which is broadcast to their tv or internet device.

I thought we’d moved on since the days when the ignorant thought there were little people living in the box in the corner of their room 🤣

When Monty says "Hello. Welcome to Gardeners' World", it makes me feel that he is speaking directly to me.
I know that this is the sign of a good presenter, to make you feel that way, and not that Monty is my best mate.

Most people have an inherent nosyness ("Who's that visiting at number 74 ?" "How can they afford a car like that ?" etc.)
The same applies to the personalities we see on TV,hear on the radio, and read about online or in magazines.
The majority strike a fine balance via their PR, letting out little snippets of information, whilst others seem to be in the press every day.

I think in Adam's case, when he moved to that beautiful house and started work on the large garden l personally thought he was being groomed as the next presenter of GW. The development of the various areas made me think of Barnsdale and Geoff Hamilton.

When it was announced that he was downsizing to a much smaller site, l think most people, even for a few seconds, would have thought "Oh, that's a shame. I wonder why that is ?".
Some thought about it in more depth than others l suppose.

I agree, it's just normal human behaviour. The conversation seems quite respectful too.
If you don't want to be talked about then don't go on TV.
When people aren't talking about you then that's when you need be worried.

To me 'Hello' is the perfect British and proper way to greet someone.
Hi or hiya is camp and foreign.
Hiyallright is just stupid and people don't realise what they're saying.

I wonder what Monty will talk about on his forthcoming tour, I will find out in Autumn as we're going to go see him.

I think the need to know is driven out of concern, rather than being nosey. He is a genuinely liked person to most of us and it's seems like a massive backwards step so we feel sorry for him.

I had heard (and I am sure it was an interview with him) that because his family weren't well he wanted to change his work life balance and spend more time with them, so downsized to make that easier. I'd say good on him, he clearly has his priorities right.

I hate to break it to you @AnniD but Monty is actually taking to my cat Harriet Judas, when he says hello..... She's in love with him and now we all have to talk in Monty voices just to get a response from her!
