I am not visiting today as two lots of the family are away this weekend and handy brother and I chat on the phone almost daily. It is almost too hot to think even this early. I might make the most of the air con in the car and take a trip to the GC.

Morning everyone, @Ladybird4 love the Snoopy pic, definitely need another cup of tea this morning. @Rubee both OH and I woke because of the heat last night. I did sleep in this morning till 8.30 which helped. But OH has now gone up for another lie down he slept so little. I've gone down to water the tomatoes and left the door open so they don't get frazzled. Pulled up what was left of the poor show of this years sweet peas. Taken down poles and string and thrown out a couple bowls of collected tap water over the plants under the bay window. I really hope we get the rain overnight that is forecast tonight. @Ladybird4 shame you won't see your family today, but probably far to hot to be stuck in traffic. Have a lovely Sunday everyone, take care in this heat.
Lily I think my OH gets some good sleep in the morning when he goes back to bed for a nap . It’s much cooler which helps . I hope your OH has a good sleep .
Hello all. Worked at a wedding yesterday very hot but we coped.there was a lake in the grounds I was very tempted to jump in. Fiance gone to Bristol now back Monday night. He works too hard.
Got family over for lunch just cooking a few pizzas and that will do with some salads then Ice cream for dessert I am going to try making strawberry tomorrow. It’s one of my favourite flavours.
Hope you are all keeping cool and hope we all get lots of rain tonight. Badgers are now drinking my dog water at night and I pop out extra just for them.such a shame for wildlife in this heat.
Lily OH wears them part of the day but if he gets too hot he takes them off .They are thick and very tight . Be better when the weather cools down. Enjoy having your family overDebs . I think pizza and salad plus ice cream is just right in this weather.
Afternoon folks, Very hot here again, I did go out this morning and pull out the remaining lettuce that had bolted. Harvested some radish and beetroot and generally tidied up the veg patch. Now I'm in the sitting room by the fan relaxing. I normally look forward to the sunshine in Turkey (going in a couple of weeks) but to be honest I'm not looking forward to it at all. I'm only going because Hubby threatened to go on his own if I didn't and he's just not well enough to manage. I reckon I'll be spending most of the time in the Hotel with the air conditioning. Very envious of the ice cream @debs64 not eating any at the moment as I still have at least another stone to lose. Yoghurt and strawberries is the closest I get.
Thank you for the sympathy about my Son 2 and his cancelled flight. They should be landing in Bordeaux in about half an hour but then will have to hire a minivan taxi to get them to Bergerac where their car is.
Son 1 and family, 3 little girls, left this morning, on their way home to near Auxerre.
We had thunderstorms in the night and quite a bit of rain. Such a relief now that it's cooler and the garden is well watered.
I enjoyed the fête yesterday. I didn't sell raffle tickets, instead I sold tickets for children's games which was much more fun. There were prizes for the children who managed to win each game, which meant nearly all of them got a prize.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good afternoon everyone. Boy it has been toasty today. I didn't have the energy to do anything more than fill my bird feeder in the back garden and transport some salad trimmings to my compost bin. The sun has disappeared here and there are some interesting clouds in the sky - hope that means rain! Knowing my luck it will probably heave it down on Thursday when Bestie, her daughter and I are going to the Southport Flower Show with our tickets that have been held over for 2 years
@Rubee, I think that is a good idea for your OH - going back to rest in the morning but I can't say my bedroom is as cool as your's sounds - its like an oven up there.
@debs64, I am very surprised that the whole wedding party didn't leap into the lake. Your Sunday meal sounds just right for a hot summer day. Well done for providing water for the badgers. As Ante said a few days ago, the wildlife are really suffering, both with food and water.
@Yviestevie, at least you have had time to acclimatise yourself to the heat you will find in Turkey
@Busy-Lizzie, I'm glad that your son and family have finally made it to France and that their onward journey is not too difficult. That sounds like a very well thought out set of games at the fête to ensure that all the small people got something as a prize. I hope that you see some recovery in your garden before you return home to Norfolk this week.

It's nice we've had a summer this year, but I'd like it a bit cooler.
