Hope your OH has a safe journey, @Busy-Lizzie and gets his operation very soon.

@Busy-Lizzie we are among those inconvenienced! We now have to use alternative banking for our pensions.

Hope your OH has a good journey @Busy-Lizzie.
Banks!  First they close the branches and now they're closing accounts!  That ad for Lloyds with all the horses - I like to think it represents all of the banks leaving all the towns.
We too have only had a few spots of rain that evaporates as soon as it hits the ground.  The hose will have to come out again.  I've been spot watering the droopiest plants in between times but it can't be enough.
I'm feeling the lack of doing any proper gardening but there is so much going on and it is so hot that I just can't get to it.  I have a lot of jobs lined up for the autumn, one of which is the pond.  We inherited a small rectangular pond with the house that had a water lily in it.  The lily was far too big for the pond.  I removed quite a bit last year, which is when I noticed that the pond needed topping up quite often.  This year it has dried up - there is obviously a leak.  So, I shall remove everything (putting the sludge into a bucket) then put some new liner in, the sludge and fill from the water butt and start again.
Hugs to @Hostafan1, glad you and the family have come to a decision @punkdoc, good luck with your Caribbean evening @D0rdogne_Damsel. Lovely of @WonkyWomble and @Dovefromabove to help.  And how busy you are with all of your visitors @Lizzie27!

We also have plans to re-do our pond this autumn @didyw ... it's just a sludgy puddle at the moment.

Hello folks, we're still waiting for our guests to arrive for lunch and are not sure if they've actually got our phone number. They may well be still sitting in the M5/M6 queue at Birmingham!

We're glad we had our lunch earlier but it's a bit frustrating as I could be doing things in the garden but don't want to get changed and/or dirty.

Thank you @punkdoc and @didyw. The plane was 30 mins late which means OH will miss his train and will have to get the one an hour later. Luckily our friend who is meeting him answered the phone and says it's OK.

I hope your friends arrive soon @Lizzie27, must be a bit worrying.

I'm glad you still have those rudbeckias @D0rdogne_Damsel. I don't anymore, having moved, but I think they'd fizzled out anyway.

Good evening. Hope you are all doing ok.

Still varied weather everywhere. Had a lovely hour outside post work. The empty council garden waste bin stayed empty for a total of 5 mins after collecting from the path outside!

My sister sent me a quiz that she did on her holiday - crossword-type clues with all the answers being plants/trees/flowers. It’s quite difficult! I’ve done about 20/60 straight off but may well need help, so I might be bothering you with some over the next day or two!

    Example:
She’s not from the hills (4,2,3,6)….  = Lily of the valley

Here are the next few I’m stuck on…

    Twin tree (4)
    Late perfumed animals (5,7,5)
    Envious measure (9)
    Salad leaves or coffee? (7)

    Thanks guys!
