Now a lot of them go for stretch jogging bottoms which are even more
revealing at times.
Well, exactly. It feels like over-sharing.
I
think my response is, if you don’t like or are embarrassed by what you
see, then ignore it.
Sure. I was just interested in other people's take. I'm not embarassed, it's just rather too much information. I'm not sure I want to know which builder is circumcised and which isn't.
I once worked with a guy who wore the same jeans every single day. I'm an archaeologist so we were outside in both hot summer sun and total downpours, and I don't believe he ever washed his jeans. This was all made even worse when one day he went to put his trowel in his back pocket and the whole pocket ripped off, revealing that he was not only wearing the same jeans every day but was also doing all this commando. What's more he refused to stop working and try to repair his trousers so the rest of us had to be careful not to look in his direction if we didn't want to be treated to the sight of a flapping, detached pocket revealing his naked backside.
Edit: I realise I didn't quite address the question. I think it is unprofessional to be obviously not wearing undergarments if you end up revealing too much of your anatomy. I'm usually pretty scruffy myself and I don't like to criticise people's clothing choices, but I have to admit that there is a point at which people just have to accept that certain looks will be seen as unprofessional. Now it may be that a given person is fine with that, but they need to be prepared to accept that there might be consequences of some kind.
I’ve spent many many hours in life drawing studios scrutinising bits and pieces of all sorts, shapes and sizes very closely. Seen it all. All are worth drawing but very few are worth commenting on. 😉

Isn't it just who/what/why/when/where/how? We are all chameleons that change to suit the circumstance. What is acceptable in one arena isn't in another - and we all have our own lines - AND - society also has it's own.
Don't you start by asking 'why'? I don't think I've ever worked anywhere where wearing underwear appeared in a contract. But why would I not? If I was trying to excite or be excited, then I'm sure my 'where' self question would maybe elicit a negative response for work. If it was for no other reason than I didn't see any benefit/drawback or wearing/not wearing underwear, then at work or home or where ever would have no impact. If you ask any of the questions and get an internal -ve response then you also need to ask what makes that circumstance different to any other. Meeting the Queen? Wearing shorts? Wearing tighter clothes than normal?
If you're not trying to highlight a part of yourself (going back to 'why'), then how/why would anyone know anyway?
Are you sure they haven’t got underwear on, just rather low slung hence revealing the ‘builders bum’ look? They obviously haven’t gone for the alternative look, trousers almost at half mast with underpants on show?
We had the decidedly unpleasant experience of standing behind a 'gentleman' with half-mast trousers in the queue at our local polling station. It wouldn't have been nice even with clean underwear on display, but his was very grey as in unwashed and had multiple holes in the back.
There's a series about jade mining which I have enjoyed watching. However the guy who runs the local scrapyard on the programme always manages to display his backside despite wearing braces. The editors must wear out the button on the editing desk which 'fuzzies out' the offending area.
I think everyone’s worded their texts pretty carefully and considerately … using honesty and clarity but no profanity or prurience. You would get far more explicit text in a biology text book. If anything said in this thread has shocked folk I suggest they don’t go anywhere near the Uffizi in Florence. 😊

Having read the first post and discovered the subject matter there is absolutely no obligation for anyone to read on to the end of the thread if they think the subject is of no interest to them.
