Showers? What luxury!!! Not a single shower on the whole of the school premises. I had no idea that other schools had showers for after sports lessons.

We (it was an all girls grammar school) got changed in the cloakroom with the male caretaker wandering about finding coathooks that needed fixing. 😡

I spot a couple of males at the back there @pansyface .... the only man in our school was a very old window cleaner.
All of our school mistresses wore their university gowns ... must have been hot in the summer.

One development since the Gym Knickers are Skorts - looks like a tennis skirt but shorts sewn in. Think they wear for PE etc in schools now in stead of the gym knickers and pleated ‘netball’ skirt combo we had. You can also buy for everyday wear I notice.

In my girls' school we had no showers either. I'm not sure if it was a mercy or rather rank to not be able to wash after sports.
  • At the risk of digressing, we were in remote Northern Scotland in the early 70s. it was scorching, so removed bra and undid shirt to revel in the sun

Over the horizon strode a couple. After a few minutes, in the name of decency. I did my shirt up.
As they approached, I saw he'd got the biggest pair of binoculars (and that is not a euphemism) I'd ever seen, plus a big grin!

I couldn't - I'll become even more of a pariah than I already am. The stories would cause apoplexy and flampageotic conniptions and I'm not insured.  I'm interested in awkward questions but I don't want to get booted off for something ineffectual. I'll leave it to your grubby imaginations. :D
